METHOD FOR REDUCING CYLINDER AIR-FUEL RATIO IMBALANCE
Methods and systems are described for monitoring air/fuel imbalance in cylinders of an engine. Engine speed signals are sampled and then run through a notch filter set to the sampling frequency. Based on a first frequency content of the resulting filtered engine speed, cylinder imbalance is detected and addressed.

The subject of the present invention is a method for communicating a malfunction of a system for measuring speed and direction of rotation of a rotary shaft, said system comprising: a toothed wheel associated with said rotary shaft, called target (14), a magnetic field sensor (10′), measuring values (K, A) of the magnetic field (B, B′, B″) generated by the passage of the teeth (T1, T2 . . . Ti) in front of said sensor (10′) and delivering a signal (S, S′, S″) to processing means 13). According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: step 1: comparison by the sensor between the measured values and predetermined threshold values of the magnetic field, step 2: if the measured values are below the predetermined threshold values, step 3: generation by the sensor of a coding on the signal, representative of the measured values, to communicate a malfunction of the system to the processing means.

ENGINE CONTROL METHOD FOR PROTECTING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE DURING REVERSE ROTATION
Engine control method for protecting the engine during reverse rotation, and involving the following steps: when a first prediction of the engine speed at a next top dead center is below a predetermined lower threshold, inhibiting the next combustion for this cylinder of the engine, and when the first prediction of the engine speed is between the predetermined lower threshold and a predetermined upper threshold, and the engine reaches a second measurement predetermined angular position which is subsequent to the first measurement position, activating the prediction means again in order to obtain a second prediction of the engine speed at the next top dead center.
METHOD AND CONTROL DEVICE FOR DETECTING A COMBUSTION PROCESS OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF A HYBRID VEHICLE
A method for detecting a combustion process of an internal combustion engine of a hybrid vehicle includes the steps of acquiring a rotational speed signal representing a rotational speed of the crankshaft, acquiring a crankshaft angle signal representing a crankshaft angle of the crankshaft, and determining, based on the rotational speed signal and the crankshaft angle signal, whether a combustion occurs in the internal combustion engine. A control device for detecting a combustion process of an internal combustion engine of a hybrid vehicle is also provided.
Method and device for detecting glow ignition of an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle
A method for detecting glow ignition of a fuel-air mixture in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine having at least one first cylinder and at least one second cylinder, the at least one first and second cylinders being connected by a crankshaft, according to which method partial segment times of the at least one first cylinder are measured. The method is characterized in that partial segment times of the at least one second cylinder are measured and a reference characteristic for the glow ignition is formed by a comparison of partial segment times of the at least one first cylinder with partial segment times of the at least one second cylinder and subsequently a signal is generated for the detection of the glow ignition on the basis of the comparison.
VEHICLE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING A VEHICLE
A vehicle and method for controlling a vehicle having a variable displacement engine with an auxiliary machine connected directly to the engine crankshaft and to an energy storage device includes switching from a cylinder disablement (VDE) mode to a normal mode when the torque demand and engine speed lie outside an outer range defined by a first threshold (T.sub.out), and switching from the normal mode to the VDE mode when the torque demand and engine speed lie within an inner range, which lies within the outer range and defined by a second threshold (T.sub.in). When operating in a band between the two thresholds, the auxiliary machine draws energy from the energy storage device and supplements the output torque from the engine if operating in the VDE mode, and derives torque from the engine crankshaft to recharge the energy storage device if operating in the normal mode.
Misfire detection device for internal combustion engine, misfire detection system for internal combustion engine, data analysis device, and controller for internal combustion engine
A misfire detection device for an internal combustion engine is provided. A mapping takes time series data of instantaneous speed parameters as inputs. Each instantaneous speed parameter corresponds to one of a plurality of successive second intervals in a first interval. The instantaneous speed parameters correspond to the rotational speed of the crankshaft. The first interval is a rotational angular interval of the crankshaft in which compression top dead center occurs. The second interval is smaller than an interval between compression top dead center positions. The mapping outputs a probability that a misfire has occurred in at least one cylinder that reaches compression top dead center in the first interval. The mapping data defining the mapping has been learned by machine learning.
