20190301418 · 2019-10-03 ·

Systems and methods for operating a vehicle that includes an engine that may be automatically stopped and started are described. In one example, inhibiting of automatic engine stopping and starting may be withdrawn in response to a change in driver vehicle settings or when a temperature of an engine is less than a threshold temperature.

Speed ratio based governor selection

The present disclosure includes a system for improving the perceived ease of operation in a work vehicle with an internal combustion engine. According to an aspect of the present disclosure, the system comprises a torque converter coupled at one end to the internal combustion engine and is coupled to a transmission at an opposite end via at least a transmission input shaft. The system also comprises at least two governors coupled to the internal combustion engine, wherein the governors are configured to adjust an operating parameter of the internal combustion engine. In addition, the system comprises a vehicle control unit communicatively coupled to the governors wherein the vehicle control unit is configured to receive a first and a second speed signal. This vehicle control unit commands the engine control unit to enable to at least one of the governors when a ratio of the first speed signal to the second speed signal exceeds a first predetermined threshold.

PRIME MOVER RPM LIMITING CONTROL

A side-by-side off-road utility vehicle comprising a vehicle operational status switch for controlling the operational status of the vehicle, a side-by-side seating structure, a plurality of safety restraint devices operable to retain one or more vehicle passenger in the side-by-side seating structure, and a prime mover RPM controller. The prime mover RPM controller operable to output commands to the one or more prime mover of the vehicle to limit a rotational speed of the prime mover(s) when the vehicle is in an On operational status and a selected one or more of the one or more safety restraints is in a disengaged status.

Control device for vehicle

A control device for a vehicle includes: an engine (10); an engine torque adjustment mechanism; and a PCM (50) configured to execute vehicle attitude control for, upon satisfaction of a vehicle attitude control executing condition that the vehicle is traveling and a steering angle-related value is increasing, reducing the engine torque to thereby generate deceleration of the vehicle. The PCM (50) is configured, upon satisfaction of a given terminating condition for terminating the vehicle attitude control, to control the engine torque adjustment mechanism to restore the reduced engine torque to an original state before the execution of the vehicle attitude control. The PCM (50) sets a rate of change in the engine output torque being restored, such that it becomes larger as the number of times of combustion per unit time becomes smaller, and restores the engine torque according to the rate of change set in the above manner.

An engine kill switch and a throttle lever position sensor switch both remote from the engine and connected by a pair of wires to a microcontroller for controlling a spark initiated combustion of an air-fuel mixture in a cylinder of the engine. The switches may be received in the same housing and mounted in an operator handle housing of a hand held power tool.

The PCM (50) is further configured to set a rate of change in the engine output torque being reduced, such that the rate of change becomes larger as the number of times of combustion per unit time in the engine (10) becomes smaller, and to control the engine torque adjustment mechanism to reduce the engine output torque according to the rate of change set by the torque reduction change rate-setting part.

A supplemental fuel system includes a supplemental fuel tank, an electronic valve, a voltage sensor, and a controller. The supplemental fuel tank is configured to store a supplemental fuel configured to supplement a primary fuel used by an engine. The electronic valve is configured to be positioned between the supplemental fuel tank and an air supply system for the engine. The voltage sensor is configured to acquire voltage data from a power supply indicative of a voltage of the power supply. The power supply is configured to receive power from an alternator driven by the engine. The controller is configured to control the electronic valve such that the electronic valve is closed in response to the voltage being less than a voltage threshold indicating that the engine is not operating and open/openable in response to the voltage being greater than the voltage threshold indicating that the engine is operating.
