Control of an engine for a machine with a dual path powetrain

An electronic control unit to control an engine control module of an engine is disclosed. The electronic control unit may receive a machine input associated with the engine. The electronic control unit may select, based on the machine input, a lug mapping from a plurality of lug mappings for controlling a load of the engine. The electronic control unit may control, using the lug mapping, power output of the engine and power to a propulsion module of the machine to satisfy a drawbar power/torque threshold and steering power torque threshold associated with the machine.

VEHICLE CONTROL DEVICE, VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VEHICLE

A vehicle control device includes a memory configured to store relationship definition data that defines a relationship between a state of a vehicle and an action variable, which is a variable relating to an operation of electronic equipment in the vehicle, and a processor. The processor is configured to execute acquisition processing of acquiring a detection value of a sensor and driving preference information, operation processing of operating the electronic equipment, reward calculation processing of providing a greater reward when a characteristic of the vehicle satisfies a criterion than when the characteristic of the vehicle does not satisfy the criterion, and update processing of updating the relationship definition data. The processor is configured to, based on update mapping, output the relationship definition data updated to increase an expected return on the reward when the electronic equipment is operated in compliance with the relationship definition data.

Method and system for purge control

Methods and systems are provided for reducing engine stall incidence during canister purging. A fuel vapor canister is purged at a higher purge ramp rate to an engine with one or more cylinders selectively deactivated. In response to an indication of potential or partial engine stall, the deactivated cylinders are reactivated and the canister purge ramp rate is lowered.

A sobriety ignition interlock system including an engine control device and a method for managing available vehicle engine power using the sobriety ignition interlock system. The engine control device includes an engine control processor (ECP) that is electronically connected in between an engine control unit (ECU), an engine sensor assembly, and a sobriety processor. The sobriety processor determines a sobriety level of a vehicle driver and sends a corresponding sobriety signal to the ECP. The ECP intercepts an engine signal transmitted from the engine sensor assembly to the ECU and manipulates the engine signal according to the sobriety signal, in order to manage the available power of the vehicle engine.

PRIME MOVER RPM LIMITING CONTROL

A side-by-side off-road utility vehicle comprising a vehicle operational status switch for controlling the operational status of the vehicle, a side-by-side seating structure, a plurality of safety restraint devices operable to retain one or more vehicle passenger in the side-by-side seating structure, and a prime mover RPM controller. The prime mover RPM controller operable to output commands to the one or more prime mover of the vehicle to limit a rotational speed of the prime mover(s) when the vehicle is in an On operational status and a selected one or more of the one or more safety restraints is in a disengaged status.

Methods and system for improving transient torque response

Methods and systems are provided for improving engine torque response during transient condition. In one example, a method may include adjusting intake throttle and exhaust waste-gate valve based on the operator torque demand and concurrently, scheduling exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and variable cam timing (VCT) based on a predicted torque shortfall ratio. The scheduling of EGR and VCT is independent of the actual position of intake throttle and exhaust waste-gate valve.

Engine control system

In a control system for an internal combustion engine, a control unit controls a throttle valve provided in an intake pipe and/or an on-off valve provided in an exhaust gas recirculation pipe when an ignition switch is turned on, in such a manner that an opening degree of the throttle valve and/or an opening degree of the on-off valve is made to be larger than that of a condition before the ignition switch is turned on. In the above Ig-on control, in which the throttle valve and/or the on-off valve is largely opened, a piston is reciprocated in order that gas in a combustion chamber is discharged to an outside of the combustion chamber.

System and method for reducing cold start emissions of a motor vehicle

The present disclosure provides a system for reducing cold start emissions of a motor vehicle. A brushless DC motor is coupled to an engine for cranking the engine. In response to receiving a cold start signal from a cold start actuator, the motor controller activates the brushless DC motor to crank the engine for a cold start duration and increase fuel pressure. In response to a motor controller receiving an auto start signal from an auto start actuator, the motor controller activates the brushless DC motor to crank the engine for an auto start duration that is shorter than the cold start duration. In response to determining that the cold start duration or the auto start duration has expired, an engine controller activates the fuel delivery system to deliver fuel to the engine.

An electronic control unit to control an engine control module of an engine is disclosed. The electronic control unit may receive, from a load monitoring device, power command information associated with a load of an engine. The electronic control unit may determine, based on the power command information, a total power command of the engine. The electronic control unit may determine, based on the total power command, a target engine speed for the engine. The electronic control unit may cause an engine control module to control the engine to operate in association with the target engine speed.
