Method and system for controlling vehicle engine pull-down
A vehicle includes an engine, a wireless transceiver that receives attribute data, and a controller. The controller selectively shuts down the engine responsive to such requests based on whether a predicted fuel savings associated with a predicted engine off duration is greater than a predicted fuel usage to restart the engine.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENGINE AIR FILTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS
A method for diagnosing an air filter status includes receiving, by a controller, sensor data indicative of a mass air flow rate, an air temperature and an air pressure of an air cleaner assembly including an air filter, determining an air filter life remaining from the sensor data, and receiving data indicative of a vehicle condition. The method also includes determining when a first condition is satisfied and when true, triggering an air filter leakage alert. When the first condition is not satisfied, the controller determines when a second condition is satisfied. When the second condition is satisfied, the controller determines when a third condition is satisfied, and when the third condition is satisfied, triggers an air filter snow intrusion alert. When the second condition is satisfied and the third condition is not satisfied the controller triggers an air filter blockage alert.

Methods and systems for increasing catalyst temperature
Methods and systems are provided for increasing a catalyst temperature prior to entering a vehicle mode where combustion is temporarily discontinued. In one example, a method for increasing a temperature of an emission control device before a transient fuel shut-off (TFSO) event of an engine via a spark timing adjustment and an exhaust valve opening timing adjustments. Adjustments of the spark timing and the exhaust valve opening timing may change depending on whether a transient fuel shut off event of an auto-stop event occurs.
Methods and systems for controlling imbalance with an exhaust tuning valve
Methods and systems are provided for controlling imbalance with an exhaust tuning valve. In one example, a method may include adjusting a first exhaust tuning valve in response to combustion torque imbalance in a first and second group of cylinders. Additionally or alternatively, the position of the second exhaust tuning valve may be adjusted in response to an imbalance generated by the same group of cylinders.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FUEL FILTER MONITORING
A fuel filter monitoring method includes receiving pressure signals that are indicative of a pressure drop across at least one fuel filter of a fuel supply system configured to supply fuel to at least one fuel injector of an internal combustion engine and receiving a condition signal indicative of a condition of a fuel supply system, the condition signal being generated by one or more of a geographic location sensor, an altitude sensor, and/or a fuel temperature sensor. The method includes estimating a remaining life of at least one fuel filter of the fuel supply system based on the pressure signal and the condition signal and outputting a notification indicative of the estimated remaining life.
System and method for engine operation
Systems and methods for operating an engine and controlling engine parameters over a range of ambient temperature conditions are provided. A method for an engine includes selecting one or more of an engine speed, an engine load, a base timing, and a fuel common rail pressure from a pre-calibrated engine map corresponding to a selected throttle level and modifying the one or more of the engine speed, the engine load, the base timing, and the fuel common rail pressure based on sensed environmental conditions.
Electronic valve control
A method of controlling an electronically controllable valve of an engine includes receiving, from one or more operation sensors, operation data including sensor data corresponding to a condition of the engine, control inputs indicative of operation of equipment that includes the engine, or a combination thereof. The method includes determining, using a trained valve control model, an operating characteristic of the valve at least partially based on the operation data, and generating a control signal to effect operation of the valve in accordance with the operating characteristic.
Engine control device
An engine control device is provided, which includes a blowby gas passage connecting an engine body to an intake passage so that blowby gas leaked from a combustion chamber is recirculated to the intake passage, a boost pressure changer configured to change a boost pressure of a turbocharger, and a controller configured to set a target boost pressure and control the boost pressure changer. The turbocharger includes a turbine which is provided to an exhaust passage and driven by exhaust gas, and a compressor which is provided to the intake passage and rotary driven by the turbine to boost intake air. The blowby gas passage is connected to the intake passage near the compressor. The controller corrects the target boost pressure when an ambient temperature is below a given determination temperature, to be higher than the target boost pressure when the ambient temperature is at or above the determination temperature.
Group and method for unclogging a filter of a pumping group for pumping diesel to an internal combustion engine
Unclogging group for unclogging a filter of a pumping group for pumping diesel to an internal combustion engine, the unclogging group comprising: —a metering unit comprising an electromagnetic head and a control valve for controlling the diesel flow; —a filter associated with the control valve made at least in part of metallic material; —a temperature sensor for measuring the ambient temperature; —a control unit coupled to the temperature sensor; —an electrical circuit controlled by the control unit for supplying electrical current to the filter; wherein the control unit is configured so once received the starting input of the pumping group it compares the temperature measured by the temperature sensor with a threshold value, and if the temperature measured by the temperature sensor is less than the threshold value the control unit commands a delay of the starling of the pumping group of a period wherein the control unit supplies electrical current to the electrical circuit connected to the filter.
