Method for engine laser ignition system
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing a laser ignition system of an engine. In one example, a controller may operate the laser in a sealed cylinder hours after key-off. Then, the cylinder may be unsealed and a change in exhaust temperature may be correlated with laser functionality.
Ignition module for internal combustion engine with integrated communication device
An electronic device for the ignition system of an engine, which may incorporate circuitry for voltage amplification via transformer action, while also containing circuitry for sensing operational parameters, circuitry for calculation of derived values from the sensed data or operational parameters, circuitry for storage of the data and derived values, circuitry for engine system control, and circuitry for the wireless communication of data and derived values.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTIVE AND AUTOMATIC ENGINE STOP-START CONTROL
In some embodiments of the present disclosure, sensors mounted on a vehicle can allow opportunities for coasting to be predicted based on environmental conditions, route planning information, and/or vehicle-to-vehicle or vehicle-to-infrastructure signaling. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, these sensors can also predict a need for power and/or an end of a coast opportunity. These predictions can allow the vehicle to automatically enter a coasting state, and can predictively re-engage the engine and/or powertrain in order to make power available with no delay when desired by the operator.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTELLIGENT EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS
Methods and systems are provided for determining whether there is a source of undesired evaporative emissions stemming from a fuel system and/or an evaporative emissions system of a vehicle. In one example, a method includes initiating an evacuation of the fuel system and the evaporative emissions system to conduct an evaporative emissions test diagnostic, in response to a status of a traffic light that the vehicle is approaching. In this way, the fuel system and the evaporative emissions system are evacuated prior to the vehicle coming to a stop, and then a pressure bleed-up portion of the test is conducted while the vehicle is stopped at the traffic light.
METHOD FOR DETECTING AND FOR MONITORING MANIPULATION OF AN SCR CATALYTIC CONVERTER SYSTEM
Detecting manipulation of an SCR catalytic converter system of a motor vehicle. A control command (61) for the SCR catalytic converter system, transmitted from a control unit outside the motor vehicle, is received by the motor vehicle. Manipulation is detected (57) if a response (55) of the SCR catalytic converter system to the execution (54) of the control command (61) does not correspond to expectation. Embodiments also relate to monitoring manipulation of the SCR catalytic converter system. Here, a control command (61) for the SCR catalytic converter system is transmitted (41) to the motor vehicle (10) from a control unit (20) outside the motor vehicle.
Methods and systems for oil leak determination and/or mitigation
Methods and systems are provided for a dual function imaging device. In one example, a method may comprise imaging exhaust gas outside of a reverse engine condition via the imaging device. The imaging device may image a surrounding area during the reverse engine condition.
Methods and systems for removing moisture from engine exhaust system
Methods and systems are provided for removing moisture from an engine exhaust system. In one example, a method includes, during a vehicle key-off condition, in response to a higher than threshold exhaust moisture level and a lower than threshold engine run time during an immediately prior drive cycle, operating an electric air compressor to remove the moisture accumulated in the exhaust manifold.
METHOD OF CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE VALVE DURATION POSITION LEARNING BASED ON CONDITIONAL APPLICATION AND CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE VALVE DURATION SYSTEM THEREFOR
A method of continuously variable valve duration (CVVD) location learning may include when a controller determines necessity of position learning for short duration and long duration of a CVVD system, performing conditional application re-learning control in which the position learning is performed in a situation in which validity determination of system environment condition for CVVD hardware and validity determination of vehicle environment condition for engine operation information of an engine are satisfied.
Methods, systems, and products for detection of environmental conditions
Methods, systems, and products monitor environmental conditions in an enclosed environment, such as a garage or storage shed. If a dangerous environmental condition is determined, such as elevated carbon monoxide, an entry door may be opened. If further remedial measures are required, ignition of an internal combustion engine may be prohibited.
System and method for predictive engine and aftertreatment system control
Systems and apparatuses include a controller structured to: receive information indicative of an operating condition of a vehicle subsystem, receive information indicative of an external static condition, and receive information indicative of an external dynamic condition. The system is further configured to predict a fuel cut event based on at least one of the operating condition of the vehicle subsystem, the external static condition, and the external dynamic condition. Responsive to predicting a fuel cut event, the controller is structured to modulate at least one of a torque or a speed of the engine based on the operating condition of the vehicle subsystem and at least one of the information indicative of the external static condition and the external dynamic condition.
