20230294693 · 2023-09-21 · ·

A computer-implemented method for clutch start control of an internal combustion engine, ICE, in a vehicle is described. When the vehicle is travelling on a road with the ICE being shut off, topographic data representative of the topography of an upcoming road segment is acquired. A driving scenario for at least a part of the upcoming road segment is predicted based on the acquired topographic data. A gear is selected based on the predicted driving scenario. The ICE is started on the selected gear before or when the vehicle reaches said part of the road segment.

A method of controlling an electronically controllable valve of an engine includes receiving, from one or more operation sensors, operation data including sensor data corresponding to a condition of the engine, control inputs indicative of operation of equipment that includes the engine, or a combination thereof. The method includes determining, using a trained valve control model, an operating characteristic of the valve at least partially based on the operation data, and generating a control signal to effect operation of the valve in accordance with the operating characteristic.

BANK TO BANK TRIMMING SYSTEM FOR A LOCOMOTIVE ENGINE

A method of bank to bank trimming for a locomotive engine during steady state operation comprises receiving a plurality of operating parameter signals, receiving a fuel quantity signal for each of a standard cylinder bank and a donor cylinder bank, providing a trim map, determining whether the engine is operating in a steady state condition based on the plurality of operating parameter signals, determining a target fuel injection duration for each of the standard cylinder bank and the donor cylinder bank if the engine is operating in a steady state condition, and adjusting an actual fuel injection duration to equal the target fuel injection duration for the standard cylinder bank and the donor cylinder bank.

Methods and systems for controlling engine idle-stop

Methods and systems are provided for controlling an engine idle-stop based on upcoming traffic and road conditions. In one example, a method may include receiving data including traffic information and road characteristics immediately ahead of a vehicle from one or more remote sources, and adjusting one or more vehicle thresholds based on the received data. A duration of a prospective engine idle-stop may be estimated based on the received data and an engine idle-stop may be initiated based on the duration of the prospective engine idle-stop and the adjusted one or more vehicle threshold.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD

A method for determining a combustion gas composition of a combustion gas for an internal combustion engine includes operating the engine, and establishing an operating point of the internal combustion engine during operation. The method also includes detecting a nitrogen oxide emission of the internal combustion engine at the operating point. The method further includes detecting an exhaust gas temperature of the internal combustion engine at the operating point, and detecting a combustion air ratio of the internal combustion engine at the operating point. The combustion gas composition of the combustion gas is determined based on the operating point, the detected nitrogen oxide emission, the detected exhaust gas temperature and the detected combustion air ratio.
