SYSTEM INCLUDING ENGINE AND METHOD OF OPERATING ENGINE

A system includes an engine adapted to output a torque, a parasitic load adapted to receive a portion of the torque from the engine, and a controller communicably coupled to the parasitic load. The controller is configured to determine an actual exhaust temperature value of an exhaust gas flow exiting the engine and a minimum fuel amount to be injected into the engine. The controller is configured to compare the actual exhaust temperature value with an exhaust temperature threshold value of the exhaust gas flow to determine a first difference between the actual exhaust temperature value and the exhaust temperature threshold value. The controller is configured to determine a target torque output of the engine based on the first difference and the minimum fuel amount. The controller is configured to cause the torque to be increased to attain the target torque output using the parasitic load.

VEHICLE DRIVER MODEL

A method of testing an automotive vehicle estimates acceleration for multiple time windows. Each of the time windows has a different length. A speed of the vehicle is measured. The acceleration vector is estimated, for the time windows, as a function of the speed and a test speed. A target acceleration is calculated by multiplying the acceleration vector by a driving mode vector. A target speed, of a driver model, is set as a function of a test cycle, the target acceleration, and the speed. The vehicle is controlled at the target speed.

The present invention relates to a control device and a control method for an internal combustion engine equipped with a variable compression ratio mechanism. The control device sets an air charging efficiency as an engine load equivalent value and performs setting of a determination value used for misfire diagnosis, setting of an ignition timing, an estimation of a catalyst temperature, or the like. In the control device, when a compression ratio is higher than the basic compression ratio, and the theoretical thermal efficiency is high, the air charging efficiency is corrected to be increased, to perform the control on the basis of the corrected air charging efficiency. Furthermore, in a torque control that sets a target air charging efficiency on the basis of a torque command value, when the compression ratio is higher than the basic compression ratio, the target air charging efficiency is reduced.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING MILD HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE

A method and an apparatus for controlling a mild hybrid electric vehicle are provided. The method includes detecting data for operating the vehicle and determining a target torque of an engine based on the detected data. Additionally, the method includes determining whether an operating condition of a limiting logic of a combustion torque of the engine is satisfied based on a temperature of coolant of the engine and operating the limiting logic when the operating condition of the limiting logic is satisfied. A first available combustion torque of the engine is determined based on a speed of the engine and the temperature of the coolant when the limiting logic is operated and a target torque of a MHSG is determined based on the target torque of the engine and the first available combustion torque of the engine. The MHSG is then operated to generate the target torque of the MHSG.
