Cylinder liner assembly having a thermal barrier coating
A cylinder liner assembly is disclosed for use with an engine. The cylinder liner assembly may include a liner having a hollow generally cylindrical body extending from a top end to a bottom end along a longitudinal axis, and an internal annular cuff ring groove formed at the top end of the liner. An internal surface of the internal cuff ring groove may include a metal spray coating having a thermal conductivity that is less than a thermal conductivity of a base material of the liner to act as a thermal insulating layer. A cuff ring may be disposed within the internal cuff ring groove at the top end of the liner in contact with the metal spray coating. A seal may be disposed around an outer circumferential surface of the liner approximately in axial alignment with an internal axial end of the internal cuff ring groove.
CYLINDER LINER FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND A METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
Cylinder liner for an internal combustion engine, the cylinder liner comprising an outer wall configured to be fitted in a cylinder liner bore of a crank case, and an inner circular wall forming at least partly a gliding surface for a reciprocating piston with at least one piston ring during operation of the internal combustion engine, wherein in at least a part of an area of the inner circular wall which is not reached by the at least one piston ring during reciprocation of the piston a coating which serves as an anti-polishing ring is arranged.
Carbon scraping ring with abradable coating
A device and method for preventing and removing carbon deposit build-up on a piston/cylinder assembly of an engine, including a diesel engine, is disclosed. The device includes a cylinder having an inner sleeve for receiving a piston, a carbon scraping ring positioned on the cylinder sleeve, the carbon scraping ring including an inner surface, and an abradable coating applied to the inner surface of the carbon scraping ring providing a wearable surface between the piston and the cylinder sleeve. The abradable coating has a wearable surface, which conforms to the shape created by the movement of the piston and the cylinder sleeve and carbon scraping ring, creating a substantially zero clearance fit between the piston and the carbon scraping ring. The clearance may reduce oil consumption and improve sealing of the cylinder and piston, thereby reducing blow-by.
CARBON SCRAPER
A carbon scraper, a method of manufacturing a system with a carbon scraper, and method of scraping carbon from a piston of an internal combustion engine are provided. The carbon escaper includes an outer annular metallic shell portion having an annular recess therein. The annular scraper also includes an inlaid thermal barrier coating portion positioned within the annular recess of the outer annular metallic shell portion such that the inlaid thermal barrier coating portion is concentric with an outer annular metallic shell portion.
Cylinder liner, apparatus for extracting a cylinder liner and method for extracting a cylinder liner
Cylinder liner for an internal combustion engine, comprising: a cylindrical portion having an outer diameter and an inner diameter, the inner diameter at least partly realizing a cylinder wall, when the cylinder liner is mounted in the internal combustion engine, a circumferential recess at the inner diameter of the cylindrical portion having a larger diameter than the inner diameter of the cylinder wall, wherein the circumferential recess is located at one end of the cylindrical portion, and a removable scraper ring,
wherein the recess comprises at least one groove, wherein a size of the scraper ring is adapted to fit into the recess and to cover the at least one groove.
COKE SCRAPING RING, CYLINDER LINER, CYLINDER, GAS ENGINE AND GAS ENGINE OPERATION METHOD
The present invention pertains to a coke scraping ring for a cylinder liner of a cylinder used in a gas engine, for scraping carbonaceous residuals (R) off a top land of a piston, comprising a ring body, a top end, a bottom end, and a combustion-facing side configured to be in direct contact with combustion products during operation. The coke scraping ring further comprises a scraping ring section at the bottom end and a recess ring section, configured to provide a recess in the combustion-facing side. The present invention further pertains to a cylinder liner comprising such scraping ring, to a cylinder comprising such cylinder liner, to a gas engine comprising such cylinder and to a gas engine operation method comprising continuous scraping carbonaceous residuals off a top land of a cylinder piston, comprising the steps of assembling a cylinder piston, a coke scraping ring, a cylinder liner, a cylinder crank case and a cylinder head to obtain a ready-to-operate cylinder, operating the cylinder while scraping excess carbonaceous residuals off the top land of a cylinder piston, and observing no pressure-induced deformation on the cylinder piston.
CYLINDER LINER, APPARATUS FOR EXTRACTING A CYLINDER LINER AND METHOD FOR EXTRACTING A CYLINDER LINER
A system includes a tool configured to move a cylinder liner relative to a reciprocating piston machine. The tool includes a first segment configured to move along a first path of travel in a first direction. The tool further includes a second segment having a gripper portion. The second segment is driven by the first segment to move along a second path of travel in a second direction crosswise to the first direction. The gripper portion is configured to engage a ring groove in the cylinder liner.
