Cylinder head bolt boss cutouts
A cylinder head [20, 120] mountable onto a cylinder block [16] of an engine [10] is disclosed. The cylinder head [20, 120] includes at least one fastener boss [28, 128] configured for receiving a fastener [24], and the cylinder head [20, 120] is securely fastened onto the cylinder block [16] of the engine [10] by the fastener [24]. A boss cutout [30, 130] is formed on a lower portion of the at least one fastener boss [28, 128] that abuts the cylinder block [16] such that a contact pressure balance of sealing pressures around the cylinder block [16] is evenly distributed.
Cylinder block and internal combustion engine provided with same
A cylinder block includes a support wall part that rotatably supports a crank shaft. The support wall part has a fitting recess part to which a bearing cap can be fitted. In each of the left and right corner parts where a bottom surface and a fitting surface of the fitting recess part intersect, a notch groove is formed that extends in the array direction of cylinder bores and has a substantially arc-shaped cross section when cut by the virtual plane along the extension direction thereof. As a result, stress having a greater value as the location becomes closer to the center part in the extension direction of the notch groove can be substantially uniform in the extension direction of said notch groove, and it is possible to effectively mitigate the stress concentration.
CYLINDER CRANKCASE INCLUDING A FOREIGN OBJECT INCLUSION FOR CAST REDUCTION AND FOR IMPROVED CLEANLINESS OF THE COMPONENT
A method is for generating a cylinder crankcase including a foreign object inclusion for cast reduction and for the improved cleanliness of the generated component. The cast material is in particular removed or pushed from the areas between the tie-rods (2) below the water jacket (1), to avoid dirt input into the component during later engine operation. The areas below the water jacket (1) between the tie-rods (2) are designed as a separate tie-rod core (3), and the bolts (4) used during later installation at the water jacket core (5) are enclosed in the tie-rod core (3), so that the tie-rod core (3) is completely surrounded by cast material in the component following the cast and the bolt (4) has coalesced with the cast, and the tie-rod core (3) remains in the generated component and is located in an encapsulated space generated by the cast material.
Lower structure of internal combustion engine
To minimize the risk of damaging an internal oil passage for conducting oil, the lower structure of an internal combustion engine includes a bottom wall (6), a side wall (7) provided along a peripheral edge of the bottom wall to define the oil chamber in cooperation with the bottom wall, a device mounting seat (52) provided on the side wall and configure to have a prescribed device (51) attached thereto; and an oil passage portion (57) formed in the side wall to define the oil passage (56), wherein the oil passage opens at the device mounting seat, and a part of the side wall adjacent to the oil passage portion is provided with a load absorbing portion (61) configured to be more readily deformable than the oil passage portion.
Vehicle
A vehicle includes an engine unit, a radiator, a first passage, and a second passage which is provided below the cylinder head and to which lubricating liquid is supplied. The radiator is arranged in front of the engine unit. The first passage includes a first opening arranged in front of the radiator so as to face the radiator and is configured to guide first traveling wind from the first opening toward the radiator. The second passage includes a second opening arranged outside the first opening in the vehicle width while being partitioned from the first opening, and is configured to guide second traveling wind from the second opening toward the lower supplied member.
Apparatus and method for positioning a connecting rod relative components underlying a cylinder of an engine block
An apparatus is provided for positioning a connecting rod relative to one or more components underlying a cylinder of an engine block, in tandem with assembling a cylinder liner to the cylinder of the engine block. The apparatus has a holder mechanism releasably holding a bottom end of the cylinder liner. A portion of the holder mechanism is configured to extend beyond the bottom end of the cylinder liner to define a groove that is disposed parallel to a circumference of the cylinder liner. A link pivotally connects the cylinder liner to the connecting rod. The link includes a first end defining a pin that is slidably engaged with the groove of the holder mechanism and a second end that defines an opening therethrough. The opening facilitates insertion of a fastener for releasably securing the link to a bottom end of the connecting rod.
OFF-ROAD VEHICLE
A vehicle shown herein is a side by side utility vehicle having a powertrain an engine with at least three cylinders, an intake and an exhaust, where the intake is forward of the engine and the exhaust is rearward of the engine. The vehicle may further or alternatively include an engine block configured to couple with various transmissions without alteration of the engine block itself.
Casting device for engine cylinder block, casting mold for same, and casting method for same
Provided are a stationary mold configured to form a portion of a bearing portion of a crankshaft and a portion of a crankcase, and a movable mold including a plurality of bore pins respectively defining cylinder bores of cylinders. The bore pins are arranged to correspond to a cylinder bank including the plurality of cylinders. The movable mold is matched with the stationary mold such that portions of outermost ones of the plurality of bore pins in a series direction are each inclined away from another one of the plurality of bore pins adjacent to the outermost bore pin in the series direction toward a distal end of the outermost bore pin, where the series direction represents a direction in which the plurality of bore pins are arranged.
Two-stroke internal combustion engine
The two-stroke internal combustion engine has an engine crankcase including a sealing mechanism that, at all times and under all circumstances, confine the oil in the lower crankcase. The two-stroke engine uses a gaseous fuel based on dihydrogen and dioxygen, and releases only water vapor charged with unused gaseous fuel. A device for recycling the exhaust gases serves to recover the unused gaseous fuel and to reinject it at the intake opening, or the exhaust opening.
ENGINE SYSTEM WITH COOLANT COLLECTOR
An internal combustion engine system including a cylinder block, a cylinder head attached to the cylinder block, an EGR cooler, and a coolant collector bracket is provided. The cylinder head includes a plurality of coolant passages. The coolant collector bracket is coupled to and between the cylinder head and the EGR cooler. The coolant collector bracket includes a plurality of coolant inlets directly coupled to a plurality of outlets of the plurality of coolant passages of the cylinder head. The coolant collector bracket also includes an EGR coolant outlet directly coupled to an inlet of the EGR cooler. The coolant collector bracket also includes an EGR cooler inlet directly coupled to an outlet of the EGR cooler.
