A funnel or drain back seal and systems, assemblies, components, kits, and methods thereof can comprise a body defining an opening that extends from a top of the body to a bottom of the body; a head portion that extends outward from the top of the body; and a flap or lip that extends outward from the bottom of the body. The opening can be adapted to pass draining oil from the top of the body to the bottom of the body for supply into an engine block.

Insulated exhaust port liner for a cylinder head assembly of a motor vehicle

An insulated exhaust port liner of a cylinder head assembly for fluidly connecting to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes a sealing layer. The sealing layer has a first surface defining a passage for fluidly connecting to the internal combustion engine and receiving exhaust gas. The sealing layer further includes a second surface opposite to the first surface. The liner further includes a thermal barrier layer coated onto the second surface of the sealing layer. The thermal barrier layer is a porous non-woven material for supporting the sealing layer on the cylinder head and reducing a transfer of heat from the sealing layer to the cylinder head.

Internal combustion engine system

A system and method are provided for an internal combustion engine. An engine system, in one example, includes a cylinder liner positioned within an opening of a crankcase, including a surface biasing a landing surface of an undercut fillet of the crankcase, and including a cylinder opening and a seal arranged in a groove of the cylinder liner positioned axially above the undercut fillet. The engine system further includes a fluid gasket and a combustion gasket positioned between a cylinder head and the crankcase, the fluid gasket and the combustion gasket being decoupled from one another.

A multilayer static gasket, stopper region containing distance layer therefor and methods of construction thereof are provided. The gasket includes at least one metal functional layer and at distance layer including a stopper region. The functional layer has a seal bead surrounding at least one passage to be sealed. The distance layer has a thickness extending between generally planar opposite sides, with each of the opposite sides of the distance layer having a plurality of protrusions extending outwardly therefrom and a plurality of depressions extending inwardly therein, wherein the protrusions and depressions form the stopper region. Each of the depressions extends into a separate protrusion, thereby forming an underside of the associated protrusion. The depressions extend into the opposite sides of the distance layer a distance that is equal to or greater than ½ of the thickness of the distance layer.

Wire ring combustion seal for automotive engine

A leak-proof sealing system is provided for sealing combustion chambers of an automotive engine. The system comprises a head gasket compressed between an engine block and a cylinder head, the head gasket comprising a gasket plate, a plurality of circular combustion apertures positioned on the gasket plate, the plurality of circular combustion apertures configured to register with a plurality of cylinder bore openings of the engine block, a plurality of bolt apertures distributed on the gasket plate, the plurality of bolt apertures alternating with the plurality of circular combustion apertures, and a plurality of wire rings, each wire ring extending circumferentially around a corresponding circular combustion aperture of the plurality of circular combustion apertures, where a surface of each wire ring includes a selective metal coating on sections of the wire ring spanning between two consecutive bolt apertures of the plurality of bolt apertures, and wherein sections of the wire ring located closer to the plurality of bolt apertures are devoid of metal coating. In one example, the system helps increase stress locally and reduces fatigue lift motion, thereby improving sealing and engine durability.

LEAK TESTING APPARATUS

An apparatus is provided to test valves. The apparatus includes an actuation mechanism having an actuator that seals a valve of a combustion chamber of an engine. The apparatus further includes a flow control device that controls a flow of a pressurized fluid to the combustion chamber. The apparatus further includes a plurality of sensors having a first sensor and a second sensor. The first sensor is disposed in an inlet port of the combustion chamber to detect a first flow rate of the pressurized fluid in the inlet port. The second sensor is disposed in an exhaust port of the combustion chamber to detect a second flow rate of the pressurized fluid in the exhaust port. The apparatus further includes a notification device configured to generate an alert based on the detected first flow rate and the detected second flow rate.
