The invention provides for method of operating a medical instrument (100, 200, 400, 500, 600, 700) comprising a battery powered medical appliance (104) and a control unit (102). Both have Bluetooth communication modules. A first memory of the medical appliance contains a onetime password (210) and of a password-authenticated key agreement algorithm (212). The control unit has a second memory (223) with an implementation of the password-authenticated key agreement algorithm (212′). The method comprises entering (300) the onetime password into the data entry interface (140, 221, 504, 604) of the control unit. The method further comprises generating (302) a Bluetooth encryption key (218) by the medical appliance and the control unit with the onetime password by exchanging data across the wireless communication channel by executing the password-authenticated key agreement algorithm. The method further comprises storing (304) the Bluetooth encryption key in the first memory. The method further comprises disabling (306) the password-authenticated key agreement algorithm in the first memory after storing the Bluetooth encryption key in the first memory. The method further comprises storing (308) the Bluetooth encryption key in the second memory. The method further comprises establishing (310) an encrypted Bluetooth communication channel using the first Bluetooth communication module and the second Bluetooth communication module. The encrypted Bluetooth communication channel is the wireless communication channel encrypted using the Bluetooth encryption key.
AMBULATORY MEDICAL DEVICE WITH THERAPY DATA SHARING VIA WIRELESS WIDE AREA NETWORK
Systems and methods presented herein relate to a method of sharing therapy data of an ambulatory medical device with a computing system of a networked computing environment. The computing system may be identified using an authorized system list that includes an address of approved computing systems. Using an address of an approved computing system, a direct end-to-end data connection may be established via a wireless wide area network. A public key of the computing system may be received permitting the ambulatory medical device to encrypt data to be transmitted to the computing system. The ambulatory medical device can transmit the encrypted therapy data to the computing system over the direct end-to-end data connection.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR BIOMARKER SHAPING AND SLEEP PROFILE ENHANCEMENT
Provided are systems, methods, and devices for biomarker shaping and sleep profile enhancement. Systems include a plurality of electrodes configured to be coupled to a brain of a user and configured to obtain a plurality of measurements from the brain of the user, and an interface configured to obtain the plurality of measurements from at least the plurality of electrodes. Systems also include a processing device comprising one or more processors configured to generate a first target sleep profile for the user based, at least in part, on the plurality of measurements and a plurality of biomarkers, the processing device being further configured to generate a plurality of stimulus parameters based, at least in part, on the target profile.
BIOMETRIC IDENTIFICATION IN MEDICAL DEVICES
The present disclosure describes systems, apparatus, and methods for collecting biometric data from a patient. In some cases, this biometric data can be collected during the course of an emergency encounter using a medical device. The medical device can also perform other functions, such as monitor patient vital signs, receive and record notes and textual information, communicate with other devices, and/or deliver a therapeutic treatment. The medical device can also be configured to record and/or maintain a patient record, and to embed the patient biometric data into the patient record for use in later confirming and/or determining an identity of the patient. Some embodiments can also collect biometric data relating to one or more caregivers of the patient, and to embed the caregiver biometric data into the patient record. This caregiver biometric data can be used to confirm and/or identify one or more caregivers in a patient record.
INHALANT DISPENSING SYSTEM AND APPARATUS
An inhalant dispensing system is provided, comprising an inhalant delivery apparatus having a main body, a lower body coupled to the main body and comprising a mouthpiece, and an inhalant delivery mechanism disposed within the main body and configured to deliver an aerosolized solution to the mouthpiece for user inhalation; and a lock out system configured to selectively prevent delivery of the aerosolized solution to the mouthpiece. The inhalant delivery apparatus may be assembled by inserting a portion of the inhalant delivery mechanism into the main body. The lower body may be rotatably coupled to the main body and moveable between a dispensing position and a storage position. The system may be used to control and monitor dosages of a solution contained within a smart canister and administered from the canister via an inhaler, to prevent accidental or unwanted usage of the canister and/or over-dosing.
Fingerprint enhanced authentication for medical devices in wireless networks
An infusion system to administer fluid is disclosed. The infusion system includes an infusion pump having a pump processor, a pump memory and a pump radio to enable bi-directional communication. The pump memory stores a plurality of fingerprint tokens and security conditions. The infusion system includes a controller with a processor, a controller memory and a controller radio to transmit and receive communication from the pump radio. The controller includes a fingerprint scanner and a graphical user interface (GUI) and controls to manipulate the GUI. The GUI and fingerprint scanner enable the controller to scan and determine tokens based on scanned fingerprints. Additionally, communication between the infusion pump and the controller establish relative proximity between the infusion pump and the controller such that when the relative proximity exceeds a threshold distance at least one of the plurality of security conditions is automatically matched.

In one aspect, a ventilation system includes system includes a ventilation device that is configured to provide breathable air or gas mixture to a patient according to certain operating parameters, a memory that includes instructions, and a processor. The processor is configured to execute the instructions to receive, over a network, at least one of patient data, order data, configuration data, user data, or rules or protocols, and provide a modification of operating parameters of the ventilation device based on the received patient data, order data, configuration data, user data, or rules or protocols.
