System and method for dialyzer evaluation
Embodiments of the disclosure provide a method for evaluating dialyzers used in different medical applications (e.g., hemodialysis). Red blood cell volume lost in a dialyzer is monitored by obtaining blood flowrate measurements and hematocrit measurements at input ports and output ports of the dialyzer. The flowrate and hematocrit measurements are used to determine an accumulation of red cell blood volume in the dialyzer. The measurements may be obtained in a lab environment with an in-vitro blood source or may be obtained in a clinical setting with an in-vivo blood source from a patient.
Waste collection unit with a control system for regulating levels of vacuums being drawn in waste containers
A waste collection unit for collecting waste material. First and second waste containers are supported on a portable cart. A control panel is configured to receive one or more inputs of selectively set vacuum levels in the first and/or second waste containers. A control system controls operation of vacuum regulators based on the input(s) to regulate levels of vacuums being drawn in each of the waste containers. Pressure sensors in communication with the control system may be positioned to monitor pressure in the waste containers. A back up port support on the portable cart may be provided to receive a vacuum line for coupling a vacuum manifold to a remote vacuum source not located on the portable cart. Container lamps may be coupled to the first and/or second waste containers and configured to illuminate the waste material within the waste containers to be viewed through transparent windows.
Blood Treatment Device Priming Devices, Methods, and Systems
Simple-to-use systems, methods, and devices for priming replacement blood treatment devices, for swapping the blood treatment devices out, for replacing swapped-out blood treatment devices, and other related operations are described. In embodiments, a blood treatment device can be primed while a therapy is still running. When the replacement blood treatment device is needed, the therapy can be stopped momentarily (less than a minute) for the rapid and safe swap of the blood treatment device. Blood loss can be minimized. The down time from therapy can be minimized.
Dual in-series large and small droplet filters
A surgical evacuation system having dual in-series large and small droplet filters is provided. The surgical evacuation system comprises a pump, a motor operably coupled to the pump, and a flow path fluidically coupled to the pump. the flow path comprises a first fluid filter configured to extract a large droplet in a fluid moving through the flow path and a second fluid filter configured to extract a small droplet in the fluid moving through the flow path. the first fluid filter is coupled in series with the second fluid filter. The first fluid filter is positioned upstream of the second fluid filter. An outlet port of the second fluid filter is coupled to an inlet port of a non-fluid filter.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OXYGENATOR PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Systems and methods for monitoring oxygenator performance in extracorporeal circuit systems or the like. More particularly, the disclosure relates to systems and methods including a controller programmed to determine oxygenator apparatus flow impedance as a function of an inlet pressure measurement, an outlet pressure measurement and a blood flow rate measurement. The systems and methods may include a communication device that receives signals from the controller to communicate information regarding oxygenator apparatus performance.
Blood treatment device priming devices, methods, and systems

When the replacement blood treatment device is needed, the therapy can be stopped momentarily (less than a minute) for the rapid and safe swap of the blood treatment device. Blood loss can be minimized. The down time from therapy can be minimized.
BLOOD TREATMENT DEVICE WITH AUTOMATIC REDUCTION OF A SUBSTITUTION-SOLUTION FLOW RATE
The disclosure relates to a blood treatment device for use in blood treatment therapies, comprising: an extracorporeal blood circuit, a dialyzer and a dialysis fluid circuit, wherein the extracorporeal blood circuit and the dialysis fluid circuit are separated from each other via a membrane provided in the dialyzer, via which blood can be filtered; at least one substitution solution pump, which is configured to supply a substitution solution to the extracorporeal blood circuit before and/or after the dialyzer; an effluent pressure sensor, which is configured to measure a pressure in the dialysis fluid circuit after the dialyzer, and a control unit, which is configured to automatically reduce a flow rate of the at least one substitution solution pump when an effluent pressure measured by the effluent pressure sensor drops during an ongoing blood treatment therapy.
