Ramjet including a detonation chamber and aircraft comprising such a ramjet
The invention relates to a ramjet including a detonation chamber and an aircraft comprising such a ramjet. According to the invention, the ramjet (S1) comprises an annular detonation chamber (2) having a continuous detonation wave and fuel injection means (6) for continuously injecting fuel (F2) directly into the chamber (2) just downstream of an air injection base (3). The fuel (F2) and the air (F1) are injected separately into the detonation chamber (2) in a permanent manner throughout the operation of the ramjet (S1).

Jet engine, flying object, and operation method of jet engine
A jet engine has an inlet 11 configured to introduce air, and a combustor 12 having a fuel injection port 30a that injects a fuel, and configured to combust the fuel injected from the fuel injection port 30a by using the air. The combustor 12 has a separation section 14 defining the air passage FA through which the air flows, between a rear end 15 of the inlet and the fuel injection port 30a. A plurality of turbulent flow generating sections (20;25) are arranged in the separation section 14 to makes the air flow turbulent. Each of the plurality of turbulent flow generating sections (20;25) contains a member (21;22;25B) which can restrain the turbulence of the air flow by moving or disappearing. It can be prevented that a high-pressure region reaches the inlet so that the thrust of the jet engine is reduced.

Air inlet arrangement and method of making the same
An inlet arrangement is disclosed herein for use with a supersonic jet engine configured to consume air at a predetermined mass flow rate when the supersonic jet engine is operating at a predetermined power setting and moving at a predetermined Mach speed. The air inlet arrangement includes, but is not limited to, a cowl having a cowl lip and a center body coaxially aligned with the cowl. A protruding portion of the center body extends upstream of the cowl lip for a length greater than a conventional spike length. The protruding portion is configured to divert air flowing over the protruding portion out of a pathway of an inlet to the supersonic jet engine such that a remaining airflow approaching and entering the inlet matches the predetermined mass flow rate.

Flight vehicle engine with finned inlet
An air inlet for a flight vehicle engine includes at least one fin, at least partially upstream of a throat of the engine. The fin protrudes into a flow channel, extending beyond a boundary layer into the main airstream in the inlet. The fin causes mixing in the flow, bringing high-momentum flow into areas of the flow channel containing low-momentum flow by aggregating the boundary layer and causing it to lift from the surface. The fin may have a width and/or height that varies along its length in the flow direction, which may allow it to shape the flow around it in predictable ways, without resulting in excessive drag.

FILTRATION APPARATUS AND METHOD
A filtering apparatus formed by a plurality of channel systems. Each of the channel systems include an inlet port formed on an inlet side of the plate; no more than one outlet port formed on an outlet side of the plate; and a channel formed in the plate, the channel coupled to the inlet port and to the outlet port, wherein the ratio of the product of the capture area of the inlet ports of a channel system with the first transmissivity associated with the inlet ports to the product of the capture area of the outlet ports of a channel system with the second transmissivity associated with the outlet ports is greater than one. The channel system is configured to interact with objects of interest on a scale which is smaller than a value several orders of magnitude larger than the mean free path of an object of interest. Some plate embodiments are configured to interact with particles, such as air molecules, water molecules, or aerosols. Other plate embodiments are configured to interact with waves or wavelike particles, such as electrons, photons, phonons or acoustic waves.
