Systems and Methods for Make-Up Air Blocking Valve with a Restrictive Poppet Orifice

Valves, internal combustion engines including such valves, and methods of on-board diagnostic leak detection for a crankcase ventilation system using such valves are disclosed. Each valve has a housing defining a first port and a second port in fluid communication with one another and defining a valve seat therebetween. A biasing member biases a poppet sealing member into a normally open position (defining unrestricted flow through the valve) and a commanded actuator is connected to the poppet sealing member. The poppet sealing member has an orifice therethrough defining a restricted flow path, and, upon command, the commanded actuator moves the poppet sealing member from the open position to a restricted flow position in which the poppet sealing member is seated against the valve seat for restricted flow thorough the orifice in the poppet sealing member.

Separation Assembly with Multiple Separators and a Single Jet Pump Assembly

The application relates to a separation assembly with multiple separators and a single jet pump assembly. A separation assembly comprises a first crankcase ventilation separator comprises a first drain outlet, a second crankcase ventilation separator that comprises a second drain outlet, and a jet pump assembly. The jet pump assembly comprises a first drain inlet fluidly connected to the first drain outlet of the first crankcase ventilation separator and a second drain inlet fluidly connected to the second drain outlet of the second crankcase ventilation separator. The jet pump assembly provides suction pressure to both the first drain outlet of the first rankcase ventilation separator and the second drain outlet of the second crankcase ventilation separator.

Vent insert

A vent insert is disclosed for use with an automotive turbocharger system. The vent has a substantially cylindrical hollow tube with a first end for seating the vent and a second open end. The first end has a rim around an opening. The second end of the vent has an angled opening that faces away from the direction of the gas flow when the vent insert is operating within the turbocharger system. There are a plurality of protrusions extending outward from the outside surface of the vent to assist in keeping the vent insert in place in the turbocharger system.

Leak diagnosis method and leak diagnosis device for blowby gas treatment device of internal combustion engine

A blowby gas treatment device includes a pressure control valve, a fresh air induction pipe, a first blowby gas pipe, a second blowby gas pipe, a shutoff valve, a one-way valve, and a PCV valve. A leak diagnosis includes a first-stage diagnosis to determine whether or not falling of a pressure in a crank case after closing of the shutoff valve under a non-supercharging condition is normal. A second-stage diagnosis is implemented by moving the pressure control valve from a fully opened state into a fully closed state, and determining whether an intake air quantity in each state is equal to each other. When the intake air quantity in each state is equal to each other, presence of an in-system leak is determined. When a fully closed state intake air quantity is different from a fully opened state intake air quantity, presence of an out-of-system leak is determined.
