An inlet system for an internal combustion engine is provided and includes a compressor including a rotor, and an air guide arranged to guide an air flow from an air inlet to at least one cylinder of the engine via the compressor. The inlet system also includes at least two fluid sources, and at least two fluid guiding elements each arranged to guide a fluid from a respective of the fluid sources to the air guide, between the air inlet and an outlet of the compressor, that the fluid guiding elements present a first conduit for guiding a fluid from a first of the fluid sources, and a second conduit for guiding a fluid from a second of the fluid sources, and that a restriction of a flow of the fluid from the first fluid source is provided by a downstream end of the first conduit and the rotor, whereby a downstream end of the second conduit is arranged so that a pressure drop provided by the restriction drives fluid through the second conduit towards the downstream end of the second conduit.

COMPRESSION-IGNITION INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A compression-ignition internal combustion engine includes a fuel injection nozzle including a tip end portion exposed in a combustion chamber and a nozzle hole formed at the tip end portion; and a passage forming member forming a flow guide passage through which fuel injected from the nozzle hole passes. The passage forming member includes a passage wall portion located radially outward of the flow guide passage. The passage wall portion includes a first layer that is a base portion connected to a cylinder head, and a second layer located radially outward or radially inward of the first layer. The toughness of the first layer is higher than the toughness of the second layer. The thermal conductivity of the second layer is lower than the thermal conductivity of the first layer.

Gaseous fuel-air mixer with higher mixture uniformity

A gaseous fuel-air mixer includes an outer shell, an inner shell, and a fuel chamber rib. The outer shell includes an air intake and a fuel intake. The air intake is configured to receive air. The air intake has an air outlet. The fuel intake has a fuel inlet that is configured to receive fuel. The inner shell includes an inner shell intake that is configured to separately receive the air from the air outlet and the fuel from the fuel intake and to provide a gaseous fuel-air mixture. The inner shell cooperates with the outer shell to define a fuel intake collecting chamber that is configured to receive the fuel from the fuel inlet and a fuel intake concentrating chamber that is configured to receive the fuel from the fuel intake collecting chamber and provide the fuel to the inner shell intake.

A combustion system for an internal combustion engine includes combustion chamber that is defined between a cylinder head and a top surface of a piston. The combustion system also includes a fuel injector having an injector tip. The injector tip defines a nozzle disposed in fluid communication with the combustion chamber for dispensing a fuel jet into the combustion chamber. A bluff body is positioned within the combustion chamber such that an axis of the dispensed fuel jet is incident on an anterior portion of the bluff body proximal to the injector tip. The anterior portion has a contour that is adapted to split the dispensed fuel jet into at least two turbulent fuel streams and facilitate mixing of each fuel stream with an oxidant present in the combustion chamber.
