A fuel filter for cleaning fuel for an internal combustion engine may include a main filter and a prefilter arranged upstream of the main filter, through which a fuel is successively flowable. The prefilter may include a water separator configured to separate water present in the fuel. The water separator may include a water collection chamber structured and arranged to collect the separated water. The prefilter fluidically connected to the main filter via a conveying device structured and arranged to convey the fuel from the prefilter into the main filter. The conveying device may be configured to provide an excess pressure build up. The fuel filter may also include a suction jet pump fluidically connected to the water collection chamber via which at least one of the fuel and the water is dischargeable from the water collection chamber.

Methods and systems are provided for enabling a vehicle for which a jet pump that functions to transfer fuel from a passive side to an active side of a saddle fuel tank is degraded, to reach a desired destination by the taking of mitigating action. The mitigating action includes conducting a driving maneuver in response to an indication that the jet pump is degraded, the driving maneuver conducted in order to transfer a desired amount of fuel from the passive side to the active side. In this way, a vehicle may reach a desired destination even under circumstances where the vehicle may otherwise be unable to reach the desired destination.

Apparatus preventing fuel starvation on inclined surfaces

An apparatus and a system are disclosed for preventing fuel starvation in an off-road vehicle that may be operated on a severely inclined surface. A vehicle having a fuel tank for a fuel delivery module disposed in the fuel tank. A fuel pump assembly is disposed in the fuel tank and a slip ring joint is assembled to the fuel delivery module. One or more tubes are assembled to the slip ring joint that extends and retracts relative to the slip ring joint toward and away from the walls of the fuel tank. A remote fuel pick-up is assembled to the tube so that when the vehicle is operated on an inclined surface, the remote fuel pick-up is extended and rotates inside the fuel tank to move toward and away from an inner surface of the fuel tank and follows the fuel contained in the fuel tank.

The fuel system (20) also comprises a filtration system (220) comprising a first filter (222) through which fuel flowing from the settling tank (110) to the service tank (130) passes. The filtration system (220) is configured to be operable in a first mode in which the first filter (222) removes contaminants from fuel flowing from the settling tank (110) to the service tank (130), and in a second mode in which fuel flows from the service tank (130) through the first filter (222) to dislodge the contaminants from the first filter (222).
