Method and Device for Detecting and Characterizing Fuel Leakage, and Vehicle
A method and a device detect and characterize fuel leakage in an injection system of an internal combustion. The injection system has an injection device for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, a closable high-pressure branch for supplying the injection device with fuel placed under a first fuel pressure, and a closable low-pressure branch for feeding fuel placed under a second, lower fuel pressure from a fuel supply to the high-pressure branch. The high-pressure branch and the low-pressure branch are each closed, wherein in the high-branch branch and in the low-pressure branch an associated curve of fuel pressure over time is sensed at the same time during a measurement time period. On the basis of the sensed curve of fuel pressure of the high-pressure branch, it is checked whether fuel loss occurred in the closed-off high-pressure branch during the measurement time period. By way of the sensed curve of fuel pressure of the low-pressure branch, it is checked whether a flow of fuel into the closed-off low-pressure branch occurred during the measurement time period. If the existence of fuel loss was determined in the first checking step and additionally it was determined in the second checking step that no flow of fuel into the low-pressure branch occurred, a signal is output, which indicates fuel leakage from the high-pressure branch into the combustion chamber.
Systems and methods for determining a survey area for gas leak detection
In some embodiments, at least one processor is employed to determine a boundary of a survey area. Data representative of the locations of measurement points adjacent to or outside of the survey area is received, as well as data representative of wind direction at the measurement points. The boundary of the survey area is determined according to the data representative of wind direction and a maximum detection distance value representative of an estimated maximum distance from a potential gas leak source at which a gas leak from the potential source can be detected.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DIAGNOSING UNINTENDED FUELLING FROM FUEL INJECTORS OF AN ENGINE
Provided is a method for diagnosing unintended fuelling from one or more fuel injectors of a multi cylinder internal combustion engine during engine operation. Pressurized fuel is intended to be distributed by means of said fuel injectors from said accumulator tank to the cylinders for combustion. An oxidation catalyst is arranged downstream said cylinders. The method comprises: determining the pressure in the fuel accumulator tank and whether said pressure is decreasing; and determining whether the actual amount of fuel provided by the pump unit exceeds the demanded amount of fuel. The method further comprises the steps of: determining whether the temperature associated with the oxidation catalyst is above a certain level and/or determining whether the air/fuel ratio is below a certain level and/or determining whether an amount of particulate matter is above a certain level; and confirming an unintended fuelling based on the determined conditions.

Method for operating an arrangement for using waste heat of an internal combustion engine, wherein the internal combustion engine has an exhaust gas duct and the arrangement for using waste heat has a circuit conveying a working medium. In the circuit are arranged, in the flow direction of the working medium, a pump, at least one evaporator, an expansion machine and a condenser. The at least one evaporator is also arranged in the exhaust gas duct, wherein in the at least one evaporator an exhaust gas expelled from the internal combustion engine is used as a heat source, and thus the working medium is evaporated in the evaporator. The method according to the invention detects, inside the at least one evaporator, a leakage of the working medium into the exhaust gas duct.
Gas Detection systems and methods using search area indicators
In some embodiments, a computer system generates display content indicating a likely direction and estimated distance to a potential gas leak source. The content includes a street map and at least one search area indicator on the map that indicates a search area suspected to have a gas leak source. The search area indicator has an axis indicating a representative wind direction relative to a geo-referenced location of at least one gas concentration measurement point. The search area indicator also has a width relative to the axis. The width is indicative of a wind direction variability associated with a plurality of wind direction measurements in an area of the gas concentration measurement point. The axis also preferably has a length indicating an estimated maximum distance to the potential gas leak source.
Systems and methods for determining a survey area for gas leak detection
In some embodiments, at least one processor is employed to determine a boundary of a survey area. Data representative of the locations of measurement points adjacent to or outside of the survey area is received, as well as data representative of wind direction at the measurement points. The boundary of the survey area is determined according to the data representative of wind direction and a maximum detection distance value representative of an estimated maximum distance from a potential gas leak source at which a gas leak from the potential source can be detected. The boundary is determined such that if the potential gas leak source is located in the survey area and has a rate of leakage meeting a minimum leak rate condition, then an estimated probability of detection of the gas leak at one or more of the measurement points satisfies a probability condition.

The second magnitude relationship is a relationship between a detection value of the second pressure sensor in a state in which the second fuel system is filled with gaseous fuel and a second threshold value.
