A method of manufacturing a fuel distributor is disclosed. The fuel distributor includes a distributor pipe for receiving pressurized fuel. The distributor pipe has a tubular main body produced from a forged blank processed mechanically. The unprocessed forged blank or the partially processed forged blank is heat treated at a temperature of between 850 C. and 1100 C., in particular of greater than or equal to 950 C., for a period of time of greater than or equal to 60 seconds.

Fuel injector

A fuel injector for use in an internal combustion engine includes a valve member that is moveable within a bore of an injection nozzle so as to be engageable with a valve seat region to control fuel delivery through one or more nozzle outlets, an injector body housing an actuator that is operable to move the valve member within the bore, and defining an accumulator volume for storing high pressure fuel. The fuel injector includes a damping chamber in fluid communication with the accumulator volume through a fluid passage, the damping chamber serving to reduce pressure wave activity within the accumulator volume.

A fuel supply system has a pressure chamber which communicates with a fuel gallery. The pressure chamber receives the fuel from the feed pump or the returned fuel from the fuel gallery. The fuel in the pressure chamber receives heat energy from the engine E so that the fuel is brought into gas-liquid phase. A volume change of the fuel in liquid phase in the fuel gallery can be compensated by a volume change of the fuel in gas phase or gas-liquid phase in the pressure chamber. Thus, the pressure pulsation in the fuel gallery is absorbed in the pressure chamber.
