DRY POWDER INHALER AND SYSTEM FOR DRUG DELIVERY
A breath-powered, dry powder inhaler, a cartridge, and a pulmonary drug delivery system are provided. The dry powder inhaler can be provided with or without a unit dose cartridge for using with the inhaler. The inhaler and/or cartridge can be provided with a drug delivery formulation comprising, for example, a diketopiperazine and an active ingredient, including, peptides and proteins such as insulin, oxyntomodulin and glucagon-like peptide.
Adjustable Stepped Cannula
The use of stepped cannulas, wherein a step structure creates a backstop to reduce backflow along the cannula body, is known for convection enhanced delivery of agents to the brain and other structures within an animal. Described herein are novel and improved stepped cannula designs wherein the length of the cannula segment between the step and the dispensing outlet is variable and can be controllably adjusted inside the patient during delivery. This advantageously allows the operator to place the cannula step at the optimal position and deliver agents at one or more positions within the target structure.
Microchannel Feed System for an Aerosol Delivery Device
The present disclosure provides an aerosol delivery device and a liquid delivery and atomization assembly for use with an aerosol delivery device. In one implementation, the liquid delivery and atomization assembly comprises a liquid composition, an atomization assembly, and a liquid delivery component configured to transport at least a portion of the liquid composition to the atomization assembly. The liquid delivery component comprises at least one microchannel configured to deliver the portion of the liquid composition to the atomization assembly, and the microchannel includes a variable flow characteristic defined along at least a portion of the microchannel, the variable flow characteristic being configured to control the flow of the portion of liquid composition through the microchannel.
A CONNECTION MEMBER
The invention relates to a connection member configured to connect an air circuit to a patient interface to convey a flow of pressurised breathable gas. The connection member comprises: first and second tube portions configured to connect to a patient interface and air circuit respectively; an anti-asphyxia valve (AAV); and a vent for venting gas exhaled by the patient to the ambient air. The vent is formed between the first and second tube portions. The first tube portion may have a substantially straight first longitudinal central axis and the second tube portion may have a substantially straight second longitudinal central axis that is substantially straight, the first tube portion and the second tube portion being arranged with the first longitudinal central axis substantially parallel to the second longitudinal central axis. The AAV is located in a position on the connection member closer to the patient interface than the vent.
Cassette for a flow control apparatus
A pump set for use with a pumping apparatus includes tubing for carrying a liquid. A valve mechanism is mounted to the tubing between an inlet section and a pump engagement section. The valve mechanism includes a first port connected to the inlet section of the tubing, a second port connected to the pump engagement section of the tubing, and a valve disposed between the first and second ports. The valve includes a stem rotatably mounted within a stem holder. The stem includes a flow passage extending through the stem and having an open V shape whereby a narrow open end of the flow passage communicates with the first port and a wide open end of the flow passage communicates with the second port to place the inlet section of the tubing in communication with the pump engagement section of the tubing.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING DRY POWDER MEDICAMENTS
An apparatus includes a first member coupled to a second member. The first member defines a chamber containing a dry powder and includes a chamber wall that forms an outer boundary of the chamber. The second member includes a surface covering the chamber and defines an intake channel and an exit channel. The exit channel is fluidically coupled to the chamber via an exit opening. The intake channel is fluidically coupled to the chamber via an intake port. A center line of the intake channel is tangential to a portion of the chamber wall such that a portion of an inlet airflow conveyed into the chamber via the intake channel has a rotational motion. The intake port is defined at least in part by an intake ramp. The intake ramp includes a transition surface that forms an exit angle with respect to the surface of less than 105 degrees.
HEART PUMP
A heart pump including: a housing forming a cavity including: at least one inlet aligned with an axis of the cavity; and, at least one outlet provided in a circumferential outer wall of the cavity; an impeller provided within the cavity, the impeller including vanes for urging fluid from the inlet to the outlet; and, a drive for rotating the impeller in the cavity and wherein a flow path through the pump has a minimal cross-sectional area of at least 50 mm.sup.2.
RESPIRATORY TRACT DELIVERY OF LEVODOPA AND DOPA DECARBOXYLASE INHIBITOR FOR TREATMENT OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE
A dry pharmaceutical composition is provided that is suitable for respiratory tract delivery of levodopa and DDI for treatment of Parkinson's disease or Parkinson syndrome. The dry pharmaceutical composition comprises levodopa, a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor (DDI) and at least one excipient. A unit dosage form of the dry pharmaceutical composition and a method of treating a patient with Parkinson's disease or Parkinson syndrome by administering the dry pharmaceutical composition are also provided.
ELECTRONIC PUMP ASSEMBLY FOR AN IMPLANTABLE DEVICE HAVING A FLOW MODIFIER
According to an aspect, an electronic pump assembly includes a pump configured to move fluid between from or to a fluid reservoir of a device. The pump includes a passive valve. The electronic pump assembly includes a controller configured to actuate the pump and a flow modifier configured to restrict a flow of fluid entering or within the pump.
Systems and methods for a disposable anesthetic vaporizer
Systems and methods are provided for delivering anesthetic agent to a patient. In one embodiment, an anesthetic vaporizer includes a housing defining a sump, the sump configured to hold a self-contained supply of liquid anesthetic agent, a heating element electrically coupled to an electrical mating component, a gas inlet passage and a gas outlet passage, a manifold fluidically coupled to the gas inlet passage and the gas outlet passage, the manifold coupled to the housing and forming a gas-tight seal with the sump, and a quick disconnect pneumatic system coupled to the gas inlet passage and the gas outlet passage, sealing the gas inlet passage and the gas outlet passage from atmosphere.
