An auto-stop start system for a vehicle. The auto-stop start system has a control unit with an auto-stop start function controlling stop and start of an engine of the vehicle, and a control device by which control device the auto-stop start function can be temporarily deactivated by an operator of the vehicle. The control unit is configured to reactivate the auto-stop start function after a predetermined duration of a temporary deactivation. The predetermined duration of the temporary deactivation of the auto-stop start function is selectable by means of the control device.

The present invention relates to a method of controlling a vehicle. The method comprises stopping (12) an engine (2) of the vehicle (1) when a speed of the vehicle (1) is greater than or equal to a speed threshold, and inhibiting (17) starting of the engine (2) if the speed of the vehicle (1) falls below the speed threshold and a driver demand for braking force is less than or equal to a braking force threshold. A method is disclosed for controlling an engine assembly comprising an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas treatment apparatus. The aftertreatment assembly may require cleaning from time to time, and where this involves active thermal management of the aftertreatment assembly, the method involves performing the following steps: (a) imposing a first limit on engine speed; (b) awaiting an engine safe state; and (c) implementing a cleaning process comprising: (i) injecting fuel into the engine such that the fuel passes through the engine without combusting for the fuel to combust in the diesel oxidation catalyst so as to target an increase in exhaust gas temperature in the diesel oxidation catalyst; and (ii) removing the first limit on engine speed and targeting an engine speed set point, wherein the engine speed set point is at a higher speed than the first limit on engine speed.

Systems and methods for operating a hybrid vehicle are described. In one example, a torque reserve for starting an engine via an electric machine is adjusted responsive to vehicle operating conditions. The torque reserve may set aside a portion of torque that an electric machine may produce for cranking and starting an engine.

In a case where an engine is started based on a remote operation, a limitation condition for limiting an engine start is tightened or a stop condition after the engine is started is relaxed, as compared to a case where the engine is started based on a switch operation in an occupant cabin. That is, it is difficult to start the engine when the engine is started based on the remote operation, and it is easy to stop the engine when the engine is started based on the remote operation. As a result, it is possible to take more appropriate measures when the engine is started based on the remote operation.

An auto-stop start system for a vehicle. A control device is configured to control a vehicle in which an engine is able to be started in response to a request signal transmitted from the outside of the vehicle. The control device includes a controller. The controller acquires the result of detection about the vehicle state of the vehicle from a first sensor group including one or more sensors able to detect the vehicle state of the vehicle before the engine of the vehicle is started in response to the request signal, starts the engine in a case where the vehicle state satisfies a first condition including a condition relating to a range of a transmission of the vehicle, and does not start the engine in a case where the vehicle state does not satisfy the first condition.

A control device is configured to control a vehicle in which an engine is able to be started in response to a request signal transmitted from the outside of the vehicle. The control device includes a controller. The controller acquires the result of detection about the vehicle state of the vehicle from a first sensor group including one or more sensors able to detect the vehicle state of the vehicle before the engine of the vehicle is started in response to the request signal, starts the engine in a case where the vehicle state satisfies a first condition including a condition relating to a range of a transmission of the vehicle, and does not start the engine in a case where the vehicle state does not satisfy the first condition.

A method of encouraging safe driving of a vehicle using a remote starter device installed at a vehicle is provided. The remote starter device determines whether it is in signal communication with a remote starter application operating at a mobile computing device separate from the remote starter device. When the remote starter device is in signal communication with the remote starter application, the remote starter device permits ignition of the vehicle. When the remote starter device is not in signal communication with the remote starter application, the remote starter device prevents ignition of the vehicle. The remote starter application may present to a driver of the vehicle an insurance rate for taking a trip in the vehicle.

A start-stop device and a corresponding method brings about an automatic switch-off and/or switch-on operation of an automatically switched-off drive machine of a motor vehicle, in particular of a motor vehicle having an automatic transmission. The start-stop device has a switch-off logic, by way of which an automatic switch-off of the drive machine can be brought about in the case of a moving vehicle in accordance with a predefined switch-off operating strategy, and a switch-on logic, by way of which an automatic switch-on of the automatically switched-off drive machine can be brought about in accordance with a predefined switch-on operating strategy. The switch-off operating strategy and/or the switch-on operating strategy are/is configured in a manner which is based on wheel torque.
