Vehicle Operation Adjustment Using Internal and External Data
20190162154 · 2019-05-30 ·

A system and method for controlling the operations of a vehicle in response to an analysis of the vehicle's status and performance compared to a set of external performance parameters. The vehicle may be operable to adjust its performance in response to the analysis in order to comply with the performance parameters. The vehicle may further be operable to prevent activation or continued operation of one or more components in response to the analysis.

Vehicle control system

A vehicle control system to prevent a shortage of a braking force when temporarily stopping a vehicle during autonomous operation. The vehicle control system comprises: a prime mover; a drive wheel; a brake device that applies a brake torque to the drive wheel; an interrupting device that selectively allows a torque transmission the prime mover and the drive wheel; and a controller that operates a vehicle autonomously. The controller is configured to: detect a stop point; stop the vehicle temporarily at the stop point; disengage the interrupting device; and engages the interrupting device after confirming safety condition.

CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

In response to a restarting request generated during a stopping period, in which fuel injection is stopped to automatically stop engine operation, either starter starting or combustion starting is selected. In the starter starting, the engine is restarted using a starter motor. In the combustion starting, the engine is restarted through fuel injection and ignition without using the starter motor. If the rotational resistance acting on the crankshaft is determined to be of such a magnitude that the combustion starting is impossible, the starter starting is carried out in response to the restarting request generated during the stopping period.

Camera based vehicle start-stop feature

A stop-start control system for a vehicle includes a camera disposed at the vehicle and having a field of view exterior and forward of the vehicle. A control includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to image processing of captured image data, the control determines the presence of a stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle. Responsive to determination of the presence of the stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle, and responsive to determination that the driver of the vehicle releases the accelerator pedal of the vehicle so the vehicle is coasting toward the determined stopping area, the control causes the engine to at least partially shut off.

Driver assistance apparatus and control method thereof

A driver assistance apparatus for a vehicle may be provided with Idle Stop and Go (ISG), and the driver assistance apparatus may include: an interface configured to receive information; and a processor. The processor may be configured to: receive, through the interface, driving information of the vehicle; and based on a determination that the vehicle is stopped in a first state in which the ISG is enabled or that the vehicle is stopped in a second state in which a gearshift of the vehicle is engaged in a Park (P) mode and an engine of the vehicle is turned on, perform a stopping operation for the vehicle based on the driving information of the vehicle.

WORK VEHICLE START SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH ENGINE CYCLING
20180334979 · 2018-11-22 ·

An auto-start system for a work vehicle includes a data store containing first start and stop initiation conditions; sensors configured to detect information indicative of at least a first parameter; and a controller including at least a start module and a monitoring module and operating in at least a monitoring mode or a cycling mode. In the monitoring mode, the monitoring module evaluates the first start initiation condition in view of the first parameter. In the monitoring mode, the start module generates a start command when the first parameter satisfies the first start initiation condition. Upon generating the start command, the controller operates in the cycling mode. In the cycling mode, the monitoring module evaluates the first stop initiation condition. In the cycling mode, the start module generates a stop command when the first stop initiation condition is satisfied.

Method for Operating a Start-Stop System and a Motor Vehicle
20180273020 · 2018-09-27 · ·

This disclosure relates to a method for operating a start-stop system of a motor vehicle. The method include cutting off a drive motor when the speed of the motor vehicle falls below a speed threshold. The speed threshold is determined depending on at least one piece of environment-related information.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR IMPROVING ENGINE STARTER DURABILITY FOR A STOP/START VEHICLE

Systems and methods for restarting an engine are presented. In one example, an engine may be automatically stopped and started in response to thresholds that may be adjusted as a distance traveled by the vehicle increases. The thresholds may be adjusted responsive to useful life consumed of an engine starter that may participate in automatic engine starting and stopping.
