MULTI-IGNITION COIL CONTROL SYSTEM
A multi-ignition coil control system includes a spark plug including first and second center electrodes, and first and second ground electrodes spaced apart from the center electrodes by a predetermined distance, a first ignition coil including a primary coil, and a secondary coil in which a discharge current is generated by electromagnetic induction with the primary coil, and a second ignition coil including a primary coil, and a secondary coil in which a discharge current is generated by electromagnetic induction with the primary coil, wherein one end of the secondary coil of the first ignition coil and one end of the secondary coil of the second ignition coil are electrically connected to one of the center electrodes, and the other end of the secondary coil of the first ignition coil and the other end of the secondary coil of the second ignition coil are electrically connected to the other of the center electrodes.
Engine system
An engine system is provided, which includes a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a piston, a main combustion chamber, a subchamber, an injector that injects fuel into the main combustion chamber, a main spark plug that ignites a mixture gas inside the main combustion chamber, a subspark plug that ignites the mixture gas inside the subchamber, and a controller electrically connected to the injector, the main spark plug and the subspark plug. When an engine load is above a given reference load, the controller controls, in a low-speed range below a given reference engine speed, the ignition devices so that the subignition is performed after the main ignition, and the controller controls, in a high-speed range exceeding the reference engine speed, the ignition devices so that only the subignition is performed, or so that the main ignition is performed at the same timing as or after the subignition.
IGNITION COIL CONTROL SYSTEM
An ignition coil control system includes a spark plug that generates a spark discharge between a center electrode and a ground electrode and two ignition coils that respectively apply a current to the spark plug. The two ignition coils respectively include a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a main switch that selectively connects the primary coil. An auxiliary switch may be connected in parallel to each of the primary coils.

An engine system is provided, which includes a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a piston, a main combustion chamber, a subchamber, an injector that injects fuel into the main combustion chamber, a main spark plug that ignites a mixture gas inside the main combustion chamber, a subspark plug that ignites the mixture gas inside the subchamber, and a control device. In a low-speed high-load range, a fuel injection timing is set in compression stroke and the main ignition and the subignition are performed after the fuel injection timing, and the fuel injection timing under a low-speed condition becomes later than that under a high-speed condition, and the ignition devices are controlled so that the subignition timing is retarded from the main ignition timing and an ignition phase difference that is the retard amount of the subignition timing becomes larger under the low-speed condition than under the high-speed condition.
Pre-chamber spark control with two ignition sources
A combustion control system and method for a turbulent jet ignition engine is presented. A controller is configured to access a trained feedforward artificial neural network (ANN) configured to model a first spark from a first ignition source and maximum brake torque (MBT) based on measured operating parameters, generate the first spark and MBT using the ANN, generate a second spark from a second ignition device, and determine a target spark timing. The ANN can be further configured to receive an input related to spark stagger.
Optimized Multiple Laser Ignition Plug
An ignition device for an internal combustion engine includes optical focusing lenses, including a center optical focusing lens and satellite optical focusing lens. The center optical focusing lens focuses laser light from a laser generator to a center ignition point in a combustion chamber of a cylinder of the internal combustion engine. The satellite optical focusing lenses focus laser light from the laser generator to satellite ignition points in the combustion chamber of the cylinder of the internal combustion engine. The satellite optical focusing lenses are directionally angled away from the center optical focusing lens. A firing depth of the center ignition point is greater than a firing depth of the at least one satellite ignition point.
