NASAL SMOKE EVACUATOR
A method and means effectively evacuates smoke plumes, vapors, aerosol release, mists, tissue and small particles produced from an operative nasal cavity and any other gas- or air-borne materials provided in or produced in the surgical environment. To this end, an evacuator tube is placed in the contralateral (suction) nasal cavity surrounded by a sealing member which blocks the space between the evacuator tube and nares and/or nasal vestibule.
Non-circular working channel of an ear-nose-throat tool
A medical tool includes a rotatable hollow tube and one or more electrical wires. The rotatable hollow tube is defining a working channel therein for insertion of a medical instrument into a cavity of a patient body. The one or more electrical wires traverse the working channel for exchanging electrical signals with one or more electronic devices located at a distal end of the rotatable hollow tube. The working channel has a non-circular cross section for passing both the medical instrument and the one or more electrical wires, and for allowing rotation of the rotatable hollow tube relative to the medical instrument located inside the working channel in the presence of the one or more electrical wires.
BIODEGRADABLE NASAL SPLINT
A biodegradable nasal splint comprising a tubular component at least partially defining a hollow passageway. The tubular component may be formed from a degradable material comprising a copolymer comprising glycolide subunits, trimethyl carbonate subunits, and caprolactone subunits. The degradable material may further comprise from about 0.01% to about 30% chitosan, by weight of the degradable material. The biodegradable nasal splint may further comprise a therapeutic agent such as chitosan applied to one or more surfaces of the nasal splint Also, a biodegradable nasal splint comprising a tubular component at least partially defining a hollow passageway and formed from a degradable material. The degradable material may comprise at least about 95% chitosan, by weight of the degradable material.
GUIDE SYSTEM WITH SUCTION
A guide catheter for use in treating sinuses, the catheter including a catheter shaft configured to provide suction about a balloon catheter and a distal portion shaped for navigating body anatomy. In one embodiment, the guide catheter includes a valve for sealing the balloon catheter and a vent for controlling suction.
Methods and devices for paranasal sinus drug delivery
Described herein are methods and devices for delivering a drug to the frontal sinus system. An inflatable implant is positioned within the frontal sinus system using an anchoring means secured within the frontal sinus cavity. A drug-containing fluid is released directly into the frontal sinus drainage system.
Device for the conservative treatment of nasal and paranasal sinus diseases
The invention relates to medical technology, and more particularly to a device for the conservative treatment of nasal and paranasal sinus diseases. The present device comprises obturators for the posterior and anterior nasal openings, each obturator being in the form of an expandable sheath made of a resilient material and provided with a feed tube. The distal end of the tube is in communication with the cavity below the sheath, and the proximal end is provided with an adapter having a valve mechanism. The obturator sheath for the posterior nasal opening is hermetically fastened to the distal portion of its feed tube. The obturator sheath for the anterior nasal opening is hermetically fastened to a cuff. The cuff is provided with two channels, one of which holds the feed tube of the obturator sheath for the posterior nasal opening in such a way that the cuff can move along the entire length of the feed tube. The other channel holds a catheter for evacuating a pathological secretion from the paranasal sinuses and/or for introducing solutions of medicinal preparations into same for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. The catheter is held in said channel in such a way that the distal portion thereof can be moved into the space between the obturator sheaths. The invention is intended to provide more effective treatment of nasal and paranasal sinus disorders.

Eustachian tube dilation balloon with ventilation path
An apparatus comprises a shaft, an expandable dilator, and at least one ventilation pathway. The shaft defines a longitudinal axis and comprises a distal and proximal ends with at least one shaft lumen. The expandable dilator comprises body with its own proximal and distal ends. The body is configured to transition between a contracted state and an expanded state. The body is configured to dilate a Eustachian tube of a patient in the expanded state. The at least one ventilation pathway is configured to provide ventilation from the distal end of the body to the proximal end of the body when the body is in the expanded state. In some examples, the ventilation pathway comprises a set of transversely oriented vent openings formed through the shaft. In some other examples, the ventilation pathway comprises a space defined between one or more radially outwardly protruding features of the expandable dilator.
Systems, instruments and methods for treating sinuses
An instrument system for treating a sinus of a subject includes an instrument including a base configured to be gripped by an operator, and an elongate probe including a probe proximal end coupled with the base and extending to a probe distal end. The probe includes an aspiration lumen terminating at an inlet port proximate the probe distal end, and a delivery lumen terminating at an outlet port proximate the probe distal end. The instrument also includes a waveguide on the probe and having a light emitting end proximate the probe distal end.
MEDICAL INSTRUMENT WITH INTEGRAL NAVIGATION CONTROL FEATURES
Variations of integral navigation controls may be used in conjunction with a medical instrument to provide navigation functions for an image guided surgery (IGS) system that is in communication with the integral navigation controls. In some variations, a medical instrument with integrated navigation wheels allows movement of a cursor of the IGS system along the x and y axis by scrolling the wheel, or allows selection, zooming, or other controls by combined clicking and/or scrolling of wheels, and may be sterilized or discarded along with the device. In some other variations, a control overlay may be temporarily attached to the medical instrument to provide additional controls, such as buttons or a pointing stick, and then removed and sterilized or discarded after a procedure. In each variation, inputs may be communicated via wire or wirelessly to an IGS system to provide navigation of images during a surgical procedure.
