Disclosed is a system and method for both consumer and utility scale energy extraction from flow-based energy sources. The passive system may utilize directing perforations on a surface in order to create and air jet vortex generators. Alternatively the system may provide for flow through discrete orifices aligned with the span of an aerodynamic assembly in a co-flow direction, utilizing a Coanda effect. Further additional configurations include directing flow through a perforated surface skin that is near the trailing edge on the suction side. Even further are embodiments for blowing air directly out of the trailing edge of an airfoil. The disclosed systems and methods support a wide variety of scenarios for fluid flow energy extraction, such as wind or water flow, as well as for related products and services.

FLOAT-LINKAGE DEVICE FOR WAVE-ENERGY ELECTRICITY GENERATION
20170298897 · 2017-10-19 ·

A float-linkage device for wave-energy electricity generation includes a float coming with two moving braces attached to two sides thereof. The two moving braces are pivotally connected to corresponding ends of upper and lower links. The upper and lower links each have an opposite end thereof pivotally connected to a transmission link. The transmission link further has an opening for receiving a one-way bearing, thereby forming a float-link unit. A plurality of the float-link units are linked by each having a pivot hole at one end of the moving brace of the float engaged with a boom of a prop, and having a pivot hole of the one-way bearing engaged with a main boom of the prop. A gear is provided on the main boom of the prop and is engaged with a pinion provided on a power-generating device installed on the prop.

Flexible water turbine

A water mill, power generator, for use underwater, has a flexible support shaft which permits the water current to orient the turbine axis substantially parallel to the direction of flow so that the force of the water on the blades is optimized for a given turbine, without the need for slip ring style connections between the generator at the turbine and the 5 anchored base. Optionally, the design features fins or cowlings on the flexible support shaft to further improve reorientation of the turbine with the water current or flow acting as the source of power; and/or output power links or power conditioning systems at the anchored base. The generators may be selected to meet low rotation operating conditions, and the entire system may be designed for particular ocean bottom and/or current parameters applicable to the 10 deployment.
