Flume
A hydro-kinetic power generation system is disclosed. The system includes a structure to be positioned in shallow or deep waterways, such as canals and rivers. The structure may be modular, such that the structure may be composed of one or more structural units that are each substantially the same. In various embodiments, each unit includes one or more curved walls for accelerating water through the unit, or through the structure as a whole. In one embodiment, the accelerator walls are curved for optimizing water flow through the structure without generating undue head loss. In certain embodiments, the units may be configured such that the accelerator walls are positioned on opposite sides of the structure, or the accelerator walls may be adjacently positioned. Coupled to the structure are turbines and gear box systems for harnessing energy from the moving water and converting the energy into electric power.
RIVER VENTURI POWER AMPLIFICATION, STORAGE AND REGENERATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
Methods, systems and apparatuses including systems and methods that can be used for operating a hydrokinetic turbine such as along one or more flow channels of a river for power generation is disclosed. The hydrokinetic turbine can be positioned within the one or more flow channels or can be shaped to form one or more flows and can be turned by the flow of the river.
MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR HYDROELECTRIC POWER GENERATION SYSTEM
A manufacturing method for a hydroelectric power generation system includes removing a transaxle including a first motor generator from an end-of-life hybrid electric vehicle, and assembling a hydraulic turbine to a rotary shaft coupled to the first motor generator in the removed transaxle. The rotary shaft to which the hydraulic turbine is assembled may be an engine shaft connected to an engine of the hybrid electric vehicle when the transaxle is mounted on the hybrid electric vehicle.
CONVERTING VARIABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY TO CONSTANT FREQUENCY ELECTRICITY BY A VOLTAGE REGULATED SPEED CONVERTER, A VOLTAGE-CONTROLLED MOTOR GENERATOR SET OR A VOLTAGE CONVERTER
A river, tidal, wave or ocean current turbine, a wind turbine or a solar panel harnesses an optimum value of renewable energy from variable water flow or wind flow or from electromagnetic energy from sunlight harnessed by photovoltaic conversion to electricity. A harnessing module comprising a propeller facing, for example, water or wind flow and a generator driven by the propeller, thus may harness variable electric power from water (or wind) renewable energy and may be preferably connected to feedforward electricity source and preferably a feedback variable electrical load to an electrical voltage regulator apparatus of a land module and to a motor generator set or voltage converter by a flexible electrical cable for receiving a variable rotational speed converted to variable electrical frequency, the voltage regulator automatically providing a predetermined minimum electrical power/voltage output at constant frequency to the motor generator set or a voltage converter and output at constant frequency to a constantly varying grid load. The variable electrical input from harnessing modules is delivered to the voltage regulator and converted to a constant electrical frequency by the motor generator set. In alternative embodiments, the voltage regulator is replaced by a voltage regulator in series with a servo motor and a variable voltage transformer and, in a third embodiment, the voltage regulator is replaced by a power converter.
Floating drum turbine for electricity generation
A floating drum turbine is used for generating the electrical energy from the kinetic energy of a water stream (sea wave or river flow) that provides the mechanical energy needed to rotate an electrical generator for generating the electricity. The drum turbine is installed on a buoyant skid anchored to the seabed by some chains/ropes to keep it in a fixed position and direction along the water stream. The turbine is coupled to an electrical generator with a power transmission system, and generates the electricity that is transferred to the coast using a cable system floated on the water surface.
Continuous non-tidal hydrokinetic energy transfer resource with moveable platform
A hydrokinetic energy interface device includes a hydrokinetic wheel and a moveable support structure with an angled frame. The angled frame mounted upon the moveable support structure connects between a hydrokinetic wheel and a counterbalance. A bearing is mounted at a vertex between a first end and a second end of the angled frame. The angled frame pivots to move the hydrokinetic wheel and the counterbalance in opposite vertical direction. The hydrokinetic wheel maintains vertical alignment as the angled frame pivots. The hydrokinetic wheel can be formed with interconnectable rim sections. The hydrokinetic wheel may be cantilevered out away from a riverbank by the counterbalance. The hydrokinetic wheel may be raised or lowered by actuation. The movable support structure supporting the hydrokinetic wheel may be rolled away from a free-flowing river for maintenance, repairs, or modification.
Water-driven elongated-conveyor turbine and method of using a water-driven elongated-conveyor turbine
A water-driven turbine has an elongated endless conveyor with down and up streaming straightaways connected by travel-reversing turns. Paddles mounted on the conveyor present high resistance to waterflow on the downstream straightaway and low resistance to waterflow or the atmosphere on the upstream straightaway, the differential allowing the flow of water to continuously drive the conveyor which is connected to a power take-off shaft facilitating connection to a variety of energy-harnessing systems. The turbine can be towed, self-driven or mooring line manipulated to a flow site and is operable in unidirectional flows such as rivers and reversing flows such as tides at depths from surface to bottom. The paddles can be mounted or changed on shore, at the flow site and anywhere in between. The turbine is efficient in low and high velocity water flow, not easily damaged by floating debris, cavitation free and fish, mammal and environmentally friendly.
