Use of UVE bacteria for growth promotion in animals

The present invention relates to the use of F4.sup.+ non-pathogenic Escherichia coli strains to promote growth in an animal. The present invention also relates to the use of such strains to homogenize growth among a herd of animals. More specifically, the animal(s) of interest in the present invention are those wherein growth promotion or growth homogenization are desired goals, such as animals reared for meat production. The present invention further relates to a method for promoting growth of an animal as well as a method for homogenizing growth among a herd of animals.

Benefits of supplementation with n-acetylcysteine and glycine to improve glutathione levels

A method of neutralizing or mitigating a drug-induced mitochondrial dysfunction or impairment for an individual, the method including providing to the individual an effective amount of a composition containing glycine or a functional derivative thereof and N-acetylcysteine or a functional derivative thereof. The drug-induced mitochondrial dysfunction or impairment is from at least one drug consumed by the individual selected from the group consisting of an anticonvulsant; a psychotropic other than an antipsychotic drug; an analgesic/anti-inflammatory drug other than acetaminophen; an antibiotic; an anti-arrhythmic drug; a steroid; a beta-blocker; and an immunization.

ZINC OXIDE NANOFLOWERS CONTAMINANT ADSORPTION METHOD

A method of using ZnO particles for the treatment of colon cancer and a method of using the particles for reducing the concentration of an organic contaminant in an aqueous solution is described. The ZnO particles are substantially spherical and may have nanopetals that provide a nanoflower morphology. The synthesis and characterization of the ZnO particles is also discussed.
