OPTIONALLY PULSATILE FLOW GENERATING IMPLANTABLE PUMP
An implantable pump configured to enable tuning of a delivery velocity of a fixed quantity of medicament. The implantable pump including a pump, an accumulator and a valve configured to enable tuning of a delivery velocity of a fixed quantity of medicament, wherein operating the pump with the valve continuously in the open state enables a steady-state delivery of medicament at a first velocity, and wherein closing of the valve enables the pump to at least partially fill the accumulator and subsequent opening of the valve enables the at least partially filled accumulator to dispense medicament, thereby delivering a bolus of medicament at a second velocity, wherein the second velocity is greater than the first velocity.
HUMAN BODY SUPPORT DEVICE
To provide a user with a new sensation through a tactile sensation, an auditory sensation, and a visual sensation, a human body support device has an overall shape that can easily be used as a chair or a couch. The human body support device includes a frame that is formed from, for example, metal or resin, and a plurality of modules that are arranged in a plurality of sites to support the user body on the frame. These modules include a sound emitting module that is provided with a speaker, and a vibrating and light-emitting module that is provided with an LED and a voice coil motor. These modules have an elastic part that is formed by an elastic material such as a sponge in a location that is in contact with the user body. The orientation and position of the modules are designed so as to be in proper contact with and support the user body, and accordingly, the user body can be comfortably supported.
IMPLANTABLE ACCESS PORT WITH ONE-DIRECTIONAL FILTER
An implantable access port including a port housing that defines a fill port cavity and includes a catheter fitting, a filter positioned within the port housing along a delivery flow pathway configured so that fluid injected into the fill port cavity passes through the filter prior to exiting through the catheter fitting, a one-way valve positioned within the port housing along an aspiration flow pathway configured to permit aspirated fluid to flow unfiltered from the catheter fitting to the fill port cavity and prevent injected fluid from flowing unfiltered from the fill port cavity to the catheter fitting, a port cover coupled to the port housing, and a pierceable septum positioned between the fill port cavity and the port cover configured to allow a needle to pierce through the pierceable septum to access the fill port cavity.
IMPLANTABLE DRUG DELIVERY PORT
A drug delivery port including a port housing having an inner sidewall defining a fill port cavity and a fill port washer in direct contact with a perimeter edge of the inner sidewall of the port housing such that an intersection between the washer and the perimeter edge define a plurality of filter channels having a cross-sectional flow area of about 0.001 mm.sup.2 to about 0.5 mm.sup.2 that lie within the fluid pathway of the delivery port. The delivery port also includes a port cover coupled and a pierceable septum compressed between the fill port washer and the port cover configured to allow a needle to pierce through the septum to deliver an injectable fluid to the fill port cavity.
Method and apparatus for delivering drugs to the spine of a patient, and/or for delivering other materials and/or devices to the spine of a patient
A drug delivery system comprising: a plurality of needles; a needle guide for guiding and holding the plurality of needles during insertion into a patient's spine; a syringe containing a drug which is to be delivered into the patient's spine; a port multiplier comprising an inlet port connectable to the syringe and a plurality of outlet ports; and a plurality of tubes for providing fluid connections between the outlet ports of the port multiplier and the plurality of needles.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF PHARMACOLOGICAL AGENTS TO THE DEEP BRAIN STRUCTURES
An intrathecal drug delivery system including an intrathecal drug delivery device configured to deliver a fluid containing one or more pharmaceutical agents intrathecally to CSF within a spinal canal of a patient, a deep brain catheter having an elongated body extending from distal end is configured implanted within a deep brain structure of a patient and a proximal end positioned within the subarachnoid space directly adjacent to the brain to provide a passageway via an inner lumen between subarachnoid space and the deep structure. The drug delivery system configured to transport the pharmaceutical agent using diffusion and pulsatile flow of the CSF through the deep brain catheter from the subarachnoid space to the deep brain structure.
Neuraxial connector
Described is a medical adapter assembly comprising an end including a neuraxial fitting that is not directly connectable to a standard luer fitting, an opposing end including a fitting connectable to an intravenous medical device, and a check valve that allows fluid flow from the end with the standard luer fitting to the end with the neuraxial fitting, but prevents fluid flow from the end with the neuraxial fitting to the end with the standard luer fitting. Methods of using the medical adapter assembly and kits containing the medical adapter assembly are also described.
SENSORY STIMULATION OR MONITORING APPARATUS FOR THE BACK OF NECK
Described herein are wearable sensory stimulation and monitoring devices that can be worn around the back of the neck along and in contact with the spine. The wearable device includes cuff, band and head cover members as form factors. Apparatuses described herein stimulate one or more senses including auditory, tactile or olfactory. Apparatuses are also described that allow for sensing and monitoring of physiologic parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure and movement. The device also has features that allow for easy attachment or integration to articles worn on the head such as augmented reality and virtual reality accessories to provide visual stimulation and entertainment.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR DELIVERING THERAPEUTIC MATERIALS TO THE INTERVERTEBRAL DISC
A method of delivering a therapeutic agent to a nucleus pulposus of an intervertebral disc is provided. The method comprises inserting a delivery tool containing the therapeutic agent through an anterior portion, a lateral portion, or an anterolateral portion of an annulus fibrosus and into the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc and delivering the therapeutic agent to the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc. Devices and kits are also provided.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EXTRACTING AN ELECTRODE LEAD
Systems and methods are provided for extracting an implanted lead from a patient's body. The system may include a dilator and a trephine for extracting the electrode lead. A sheath may be included that is advanced over the proximal end of an electrode lead until the distal end of the sheath abuts a collar of the electrode lead coupled to proximal fixation elements. The dilator may be rotatably and axially advanced over the sheath until the distal end of the dilator collapses the proximal fixation elements within a lumen of the dilator. The trephine may then be rotatably and axially advanced over the dilator such that a cutting edge of the trephine cuts tissue surrounding distal fixation elements of the electrode lead to thereby dislodge the electrode lead.
