A system for extracting work from the expansion of a working fluid includes a vessel having at least a portion of the working fluid, a heating device in thermal communication with the portion of the working fluid in the vessel for heating the portion of the working fluid in the vessel and expanding the working fluid, and a conversion tool. The conversion tool is in fluid communication with the vessel and is configured to receive working fluid from the vessel when the working fluid expands. The conversion tool is further configured to extract work from the expanded working fluid.

A fluidic solar actuation system comprising a plurality of fluidic solar actuators that each include a first fluidic inflatable actuator, and a second fluidic inflatable actuator. The solar power system comprises: a plurality of pressure vessels configured to receive working fluid; a solar collector, configured to heat the working fluid in at least one of the pressure vessels to thereby cause the working fluid to expand in the pressure vessel without changing phase; and a mechanical work element, configured to perform work from expansion of the working fluid in the pressure vessels. At least some of the plurality of pressure vessels are selectively couplable to each other to enable transfer residual energy from one pressure vessel after it has been used to perform work to another pressure vessel to assist in performing work.
