Disclosed herein is a method for promoting reduction of heat stress in animals, as well as a composition for use in the disclosed method. The composition comprises a glucan, silica, mineral clay, mannan, and optionally an endoglucanohydrolase, and may be administered to an animal that is susceptible to or suffers from heat stress.

Food for treating and/or preventing necrotic enteritis in an animal are also included. One food includes a feed and a compound including Ag particles combined with the feed to create a medicated food for an animal to protect the digestive system of the animal.

Modified colostrum protein and application thereof
Disclosed is a modified colostrum protein having an amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO.: 1, which is generated by replacing Ile at position 33, Glu at position 101 and Arg at position 175 present in the amino acid sequence of a wild type colostrum protein shown in SEQ ID NO.: 2 respectively with Ala, Cys and Cys.

A novel method of reducing the melting point of a peptide-based biopolymer using a nitrogen-containing compound as a plasticizer is provided. The peptide-based biopolymer can be keratin or silk. The nitrogen-containing compound can be one or more amino acids or other nitrogen-containing compounds (except urea), all of which have a melting temperature above approximately 133 C., the decomposition temperature of urea. Pellets made using this novel process can be used as animal feed and soil amendments (fertilizer) to increase the adsorption of amino acids in the animal or in the soil, respectively.
