Method of controlling a pump and motor

A variable frequency drive system and a method of controlling a pump driven by a motor with the pump in fluid communication with a fluid system is provided. The method includes monitoring a pressure in the fluid system, monitoring and adjusting an operating frequency of the motor to maintain the pressure at a pressure set point, and, based on the monitored operating frequency, causing the pump to temporarily boost the pressure in the fluid system to a temporary boost set point for a first time period. The method also includes determining whether the temporarily boosted pressure in the fluid system stays above the pressure set point for a second time period and causing the pump to enter a sleep mode when the temporarily boosted pressure stays above the pressure set point through the second time period.

SUCTION ROD ASSEMBLY FOR WELL FLUID EXTRACTION AND RELATED METHODS
20220349395 · 2022-11-03 ·

The present invention provides a downhole suction rod pump assembly for use in pumping formation fluid from an oil well, and more specifically, provides a rotor operable to generate a vortex in a pump barrel without imparting torque to the plunger. The improvements to a suction rod pump assembly may be incorporated into any oil well pumping system having a linear rod and or rod string. The rotor vortex displaces formation fluid above a plunger assembly, thereby preventing heavier debris in the formation fluid from settling or lodging between a plunger and barrel boundary, thus extending the practical life of the pump.

The invention discloses systems for improving performance and operational efficiency of wireline tractors. A cooling system improves power capabilities of electrical motors mounted in wheels, which are mounted on a linkage pivotably connected to an arm extended from a tractor tool body, in an in-line arm configuration. The linkage and arm mechanism significantly improve the tractor's ability to traverse wellbore obstructions. The hydraulic system of the tractor ensures adequate wellbore centralization.

Distributed machine learning control of electric submersible pumps

A motor of an electric submersible pump (ESP) is positioned in a wellbore. Measured data is received from one or more sensors. A first deep learning model running on a motor controller of the ESP determines first operating parameters or first operating conditions for the ESP based on the measured data. The motor controller sends the first operating parameters or first operating conditions to a centralized computer system. A second deep learning model running on the centralized computer system determines second operating parameters or second operating conditions associated with the ESP based on the first operating parameters or first operating conditions. The centralized computer system sends the second operating parameters or second operating conditions to the motor controller. The motor controller adjusts operation of the motor of the ESP based on the second operating parameters or second operating conditions.
