Method and system for gas compressor control

A method of controlling a gas compression system includes comparing an engine load of an engine of the gas compression system during operation to a load threshold and controlling a suction valve coupled to an intake of a reciprocating compressor. The suction valve is controlled based at least in part on the comparison of the engine load to the load threshold. Controlling the suction valve includes incrementing the suction valve toward a closed position to reduce flow of a gas into the intake when the engine load is greater than or equal to the load threshold.

The fracturing apparatus includes: a plunger pump including a hydraulic end and a power end, the power end having a power end oil outlet and at least one power end oil inlet that are coupled to each other; and a power end lubricating system, including: a lubricating oil tank configured for defining an accommodation space, at least one lubrication pump having a lubrication pump oil inlet and a lubrication pump oil outlet that are coupled to each other, and at least one lubrication motor configured for providing power for the at least one lubrication pump, wherein at least a portion of at least one of the lubrication motor and the lubrication pump is located in the accommodation space.

Pressure pump performance monitoring system using torque measurements

A monitoring system may include a strain gauge, a position sensor, and a torque sensor. The strain gauge may measure strain in a chamber of the pressure pump and generate a strain signal representing the strain measurement. The position sensor may measure a position of a rotating member and generate a position signal representing the position measurement. The torque sensor may measure torque in a component of the pressure pump and generate a torque signal representing the torque measurement. The torque measurement may be used with the strain measurement and the position measurement to determine a condition of the pressure pump.

A monitoring system may include a strain gauge, a position sensor, and a torque sensor. The strain gauge may measure strain in a chamber of the pressure pump and generate a strain signal representing the strain measurement. The position sensor may measure a position of a rotating member and generate a position signal representing the position measurement. The torque sensor may measure torque in a component of the pressure pump and generate a torque signal representing the torque measurement. The torque measurement may be used with the strain measurement and the position measurement to determine a condition of the pressure pump.

A reciprocating piston pump may include a fluid handling portion comprising a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a pump chamber; a drive assembly portion comprising a piston drive assembly, a reciprocating piston, a drive assembly housing, and a drive assembly chamber; and an electro-fluidic leak detection element comprising a fluid sensing portion. The reciprocating piston of the drive assembly portion extends into the pump chamber of the fluid handling portion. The piston drive assembly operates to reciprocate the reciprocating piston within the pump chamber. The electro-fluidic leak detection element is mounted within the drive assembly portion. The electro-fluidic leak detection element is configured to generate a fluid leakage signal when fluid from the pump chamber enters the drive assembly chamber and contacts the fluid sensing portion of the electro-fluidic leak detection element. A plurality of reciprocating piston pumps may be incorporated into fluid handling systems.

Described herein is a method for identifying damage on a compressor having an intake side and a discharge side, including the following steps: (i) detecting measurement data of the intake pressure (p1) and intake temperature (T1) measurement variables on the intake side, as well as end pressure (p2) and end temperature (T2) on the discharge side; (ii) determining a calculated end temperature (T2b), a calculated intake temperature (T1b), a calculated end pressure (p2b) or a calculated intake pressure (p1b) as a target variable, representing a good operating state of the compressor, as a function of the measurement data of max. three of the measurement variables (p1, T1, p2, T2); (iii) determining a comparison variable from at least one of the measurement variables (p1, T1, p2, T2) not used in step (ii); and (iv) comparing the comparison variable and the target variable as a gauge of damage to the compressor.

Method of controlling a pump and motor

A variable frequency drive system and a method of controlling a pump driven by a motor with the pump in fluid communication with a fluid system is provided. The method includes monitoring a pressure in the fluid system, monitoring and adjusting an operating frequency of the motor to maintain the pressure at a pressure set point, and, based on the monitored operating frequency, causing the pump to temporarily boost the pressure in the fluid system to a temporary boost set point for a first time period. The method also includes determining whether the temporarily boosted pressure in the fluid system stays above the pressure set point for a second time period and causing the pump to enter a sleep mode when the temporarily boosted pressure stays above the pressure set point through the second time period.

Systems and methods to pump fracturing fluid into a wellhead may include a gas turbine engine including a compressor turbine shaft connected to a compressor, and a power turbine output shaft connected to a power turbine. The compressor turbine shaft and the power turbine output shaft may be rotatable at different rotational speeds. The systems may also include a transmission including a transmission input shaft connected to the power turbine output shaft and a transmission output shaft connected to a hydraulic fracturing pump. The systems may also include a fracturing unit controller configured to control one or more of the rotational speeds of the compressor turbine shaft, the power turbine output shaft, or the transmission output shaft based at least in part on target signals and fluid flow signals indicative of one or more of pressure or flow rate associated with fracturing fluid pumped into the wellhead.
