A base station (1) and a bioprocess system (3), wherein said base station (1) comprises: a frame or housing (5), wherein said frame or housing comprises a number of valves (7a-f, 9a-d, 11a-f, 13a-e, 15a-f) into which a disposable tubing set (21) during run of the system is provided such that at least one inlet (23a-j) of the disposable tubing set is connected to at least one outlet (25a-f) of the disposable tubing set via a bioprocess separation device (31) of the bioprocess system (3); a movable pump holding device (35), which can be provided in at least two different positions, whereof one is within the frame or housing (5) and another is at least partly outside the frame or housing (5) and which comprises at least one pump main body (37), said pump mainbody comprising a connection (39) configured for connecting to a disposable pump connection part (27) comprised in the disposable tubing set (21).

Method for detecting presence of tubing in pump assembly

Methods for detecting tubing in a pump assembly of a pump system are provided. For example, a method comprises connecting a power supply to each of a plurality of pump motors of the pump system. Each pump motor of the plurality of pump motors has a power supply cable configured to connect to the power supply and drives a pump head of a plurality of pump heads of the pump system. The method also comprises sensing a motor current from each of the power supply cables, determining whether tubing is loaded in each pump head, and, if tubing is not loaded in a pump head, then disconnecting from the power supply the power supply cable of the pump motor associated with the pump head in which tubing is not loaded. Systems for detecting the presence of tubing within a pump head of a plurality of pump heads also are provided.

Fluid flow control and delivery via multiple fluid pumps

A fluid delivery apparatus includes controller hardware, a diaphragm pump, a positive displacement pump, and a fluid conduit extending between the diaphragm pump and the positive displacement pump. During operation, and delivering fluid to a downstream recipient, the controller hardware draws fluid into a chamber of the diaphragm pump from a fluid source container. The controller hardware applies pressure to the chamber of the diaphragm pump to output the fluid in the chamber of the diaphragm pump downstream through the fluid conduit to the positive displacement pump. During application of the pressure to the chamber and outputting the fluid in the chamber of the diaphragm pump downstream, the controller hardware activates the positive displacement pump to pump the fluid from the positive displacement pump to the downstream recipient.

A multi-piece fluid end that can be produced with fewer raw materials and at a lower cost. In one embodiment, a fluid end is formed from a first body attached to a separate second body. Their respective external surfaces may be engaged flushly, partially, or via one or more spacer elements. In some embodiments, the body pieces are flangeless to reduce stress on the fluid end. The second body may have a plurality of bores that are alignable with a plurality of corresponding bores formed in the first body. The second body may be connected to a power end using a plurality of stay rods. In other implementations, more than two body pieces may be utilized.
