INFUSION OF DRUGS
The present invention relates to an at least partly implantable system for injecting a substance into a patient's body. The system is provided with at least one infusion needle disposed at least partly within at least one housing with a tip end of the at least one infusion needle arranged for penetrating the at least one housing's outer wall, and at least one drive unit adapted for implantation inside the patient's body, the at least one drive unit being coupled to the at least one infusion needle and arranged for advancing and retracting the tip end of the at least one infusion needle so that the at least one infusion needle penetrates, upon advancement of the tip end thereof, said at least one housing's outer wall in at least one penetration area so as to allow for injecting the substance through said at least one penetration area via the at least one infusion needle.
Wetting Mechanism For A Catheter
The invention relates to a wetting mechanism 20 for wetting a tube 12 of a catheter 10. The wetting mechanism 20 includes a housing 16 positioned initially at or proximal to the tip end 13 of the catheter tube 12. The housing 16 comprises a wetting chamber 23 into which at least a portion of the catheter tube 12 is able to be introduced and be moved therethrough to wet the catheter tube 12 in use. The wetting mechanism 20 includes a wetting applicator 40 positioned within the wetting chamber 23 configured to hold fluid therein and release said fluid to wet the catheter tube 12 upon movement of the tube 12 through the wetting chamber 23.
Urinary catheter support
A urinary catheter support configured to support an indwelling urinary catheter such that the urinary catheter is secured relative to the penis of a male patient includes a flexible main body having an interior size and configured to receive and accommodate the penis of the male patient. A catheter support is located at a front end of the main body and is configured to support a catheter adjacent a longitudinal axis of the main body. A slot extends along the longitudinal axis through the main body and the catheter support. A strap includes first and second end segments and a middle segment between the first and second end segments. The first and second end segments respectively extend through first and second openings in the main body, and the middle segment extends through an interior of the main body.
Condom for patients with erectile dysfunction
The present invention relates to a functional condom that enables a patient with erectile dysfunction to have normal sexual intercourse and, more particularly, to a condom including a micro-needle (13) provided on an inner surface of an upper portion (10), wherein the micro-needle (13) contains a drug (P) that is an erection-inducing substance. According to the present invention, patients, including those for whom pharmacotherapy is not possible due to side effects or due to a lack of therapeutic effect, may resolve erectile dysfunction without the use of painful injection therapy, by simply wearing the condom.
INFUSION OF DRUGS
The present invention relates to a method of replenishing a system for injecting a substance into the patient's body, when the system is implanted in the patient's body. The method involves replenishing the implanted reservoir by a replenishing needle penetrating the patient's skin and injecting infusion liquid comprising the substance through the replenishing needle directly or indirectly into the reservoir.
CATHETER CONFIGURED FOR USE WITH NEGATIVE PRESSURE AND SYSTEM COMPRISING SAME
An external catheter system can comprise an external catheter comprising an engagement portion that is configured to receive and sealingly engage at least a portion of a penis of a user and an outlet. The system can further comprise a negative pressure source. A conduit can couple the negative pressure source to the external catheter. At least one of the external catheter and the conduit can comprise a portion that, upon application of a negative pressure by the negative pressure source, is configured to collapse to provide a pressure drop between the negative pressure source and the engagement portion of the external catheter.
Apparatus and methods for receiving discharged urine
A system suitable for collecting and transporting urine away from the body of a person or animal may include an assembly having a fluid impermeable casing, a fluid permeable membrane, and a fluid permeable support. A reservoir is defined by the fluid permeable support. The fluid permeable membrane can define a cavity. The casing can define an opening such that the cavity is accessible via the opening. The assembly can also include an outlet in fluidic communication with the reservoir. The assembly can be arranged such that a user's penis can be disposed through the opening with the urethral opening disposed within the cavity and such that a fluid can flow into the body from the urethral opening of the user's penis, collect in the reservoir, and flow out of the outlet.
Catheter Securing Devices and Methods
A device that has a head having an inside surface and a base integral with the head, the head smoothly transitioning to the base, the base comprising a first opening where the head transitions to the base and a lateral circular channel that travels from the first opening to a second opening on a bottom of the base. Further, the device has a clamp that clamps the base to a catheter.
Infusion of drugs
A method of treating a patient by implanting a system comprising an infusion device for injecting a substance, at least one reservoir comprising at least one compartment which accommodates and preserves the substance to be injected, and an active cooling device adapted to cool the reservoir and thereby keep the substance within said at least one compartment of the reservoir at a temperature below 37 C. The method comprises the steps of: cutting the skin, dissecting free at least one area within the patient's body, placing the infusion device and the at least one reservoir inside the patient's body along with the cooling device, such that the at least one reservoir is in fluid connection with the infusion device to supply to the infusion device the substance to be injected into the patient's body, and closing at least the skin after implantation of at least parts of the system.
