Predictive Biological Homeostasis
Sensor in signal communication with at least one controller measure at least blood glucose levels, galvanic skin response microsiemens, heart rate, oxygen and temperature of a subject. At least one controller induces an individualized hypoglycemic condition within a predetermined non-homeostatic blood glucose level. Controllers may be in signal communication with one or more computing devices. The controller may also be a computing device. The system fluidly controls flow control devices to control delivery of at least insulin and glucose. The fluid control devices are in signal communication with at least one microprocessor having memory A controller controls the fluid control devices for at least insulin glucose, and a treatment cocktail to keep blood glucose level (BGL) within a target non-homeostatic hypoglycemic range.
Pumping fluid delivery systems and methods using force application assembly
A method of dispensing a therapeutic fluid from a line includes providing an inlet line connectable to an upstream fluid source. The inlet line is in downstream fluid communication with a pumping chamber. The pumping chamber has a pump outlet. The method also includes actuating a force application assembly so as to restrict retrograde flow of fluid through the inlet while pressurizing the pumping chamber to urge flow through the pump outlet. A corresponding system employs the method.
Control of semi-autonomous vehicles
Semi-autonomous vehicle apparatus which is controlled by a plurality of control sources includes a vehicle which may function autonomously and apparatus for control of the vehicle by either an onboard driver or a driver not situated onboard. The vehicle may also be controlled by an off-vehicle computational device. Hierarchy setting apparatus determines which one or combination of the possible control entities take priority. Persons using the apparatus are identified by either a password or, preferably by providing identification based on a biologic feature. Management of impaired vehicle operators is provided for.
Infusion systems and related personalized bolusing methods
Infusion systems, infusion devices, and related operating methods are provided. An exemplary method of operating an infusion device capable of delivering fluid to a patient involves obtaining, by a control system associated with the infusion device, an input meal indication, obtaining historical data for the patient associated with the input meal indication, determining an estimated carbohydrate amount corresponding to the input meal indication based at least in part on the historical data, determining a bolus dosage of the insulin based at least in part on the estimated carbohydrate amount, and operating an actuation arrangement of the infusion device to deliver the bolus dosage of the insulin to the patient.
Continuous analyte sensor quality measures and related therapy actions for an automated therapy delivery system
Disclosed is a method of controlling operation of a medical device that regulates delivery of a fluid medication to a user. The method obtains a current sensor-generated value that is indicative of a physiological characteristic of the user, and is produced in response to operation of a continuous analyte sensor device. The method continues by: calculating a sensor quality metric that indicates reliability and trustworthiness of the current sensor-generated value; adjusting, in response to the calculated sensor quality metric, therapy actions of the medical device to configure a quality-specific operating mode of the medical device; managing generation of user alerts at the medical device in response to the calculated sensor quality metric; and regulating delivery of the fluid medication from the medical device, in accordance with the current sensor-generated value and the quality-specific operating mode of the medical device.
TRANSITIONS TO REPLACEMENT ON-BODY MEDICAL DEVICES FROM EXPIRING ON-BODY MEDICAL DEVICES THAT AVOID DOWNTIME
The switchover between an expiring on-body medicament delivery device and a replacement on-body medicament is made to eliminate or significantly decrease the time where an on-body medicament delivery device is operational to deliver medicament to a user. The replacement on-body medicament device is attached to the user and prepped for operation while the expiring on-body medicament delivery device is still operational. The switchover between on-body sensors also may be improved. Methods for calibrating a replacement on-body sensor while the expiring on-body sensor is still operative are provided. The calibrating may be performed quickly so that there is no gap in operation between expiration of the expiring on-body sensor and full operation of the replacement on-body sensor.
ADJUSTMENT OF MEDICAMENT DELIVERY BY A MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE BASED ON MENSTRUAL CYCLE PHASE
Exemplary embodiments account for differing needs of a user over the menstrual cycle of the user to better control the blood glucose concentration of the user. The exemplary embodiments may be realized in control systems for medicament delivery devices that deliver medicaments, such as medicaments that regulate blood glucose concentration levels. Examples of such medicaments that regulate blood glucose concentration levels include insulin, glucagon, and glucagon peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists. The exemplary embodiments are able to better tailor the dosages of the medicament delivered to the user with the medicament delivery device to reduce the risk of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia and help reduce blood glucose concentration excursions.
Drug delivery device
The present application provides a self-powered drug-delivery device. The device includes a chamber having a wall. The chamber contains a fluid and is in connection with an administration means. The device also includes a displacement-generating battery cell. The device further includes an electrically-controlled battery unit, which includes the displacement-generating battery cell coupled to the chamber by a coupling means. The displacement-generating battery cell includes an element that changes shape as a result of charge or discharge of the battery cell so as to cause a displacement within the battery unit. The arrangement of the battery unit, the coupling means, the wall, the chamber, and the administration means is such that the displacement derived from the battery unit is conveyed by the coupling means to cause displacement of the wall of the chamber such that the fluid is expelled from the chamber to force a drug towards the administration means.
SENSOR MODEL SUPERVISOR FOR A CLOSED-LOOP INSULIN INFUSION SYSTEM
Techniques related to temporary setpoint values are disclosed. The techniques may involve causing operation of a fluid delivery device in a closed-loop mode for automatically delivering fluid based on a difference between a first setpoint value and an analyte concentration value during operation of the fluid delivery device in the closed-loop mode. Additionally, the techniques may involve obtaining a second setpoint value. The second setpoint value may be a temporary setpoint value to be used for a period of time to regulate fluid delivery, and the second setpoint value may be greater than the first setpoint value. The techniques may further involve causing operation of the fluid delivery device for automatically reducing fluid delivery for the period of time based on the second setpoint value.
