Compressor Having A Sleeve Guide Assembly

A compressor may include a shell, a bearing housing, an orbiting scroll, and a non-orbiting scroll. The bearing housing is supported within the shell and includes a central body and a plurality of arms. Each arm extends radially outwardly from the central body and has a first aperture. The orbiting scroll is supported on the bearing housing. The non-orbiting scroll is meshingly engaged with the orbiting scroll and includes a plurality of second apertures. Each second aperture receives a plurality of bushings and a fastener. The fastener extends through the bushings and into a corresponding one of the first apertures in the bearing housing to rotatably secure the non-orbiting scroll relative to the bearing housing while allowing relative axial movement between the non-orbiting scroll and the bearing housing.

An axial adjustment mechanism has a plurality of adjustment members angularly spaced around the drive shaft and extending through the pump housing towards the orbiting scroll, the plurality of adjustment members each being configured to provide an independently adjustable axial position of the orbiting scroll. A plurality of sealing means isolate the plurality of adjustment members from a pump chamber, the plurality of sealing means extending around each of the plurality of adjustment members and comprising at least one flexible portion such that one end of the sealing means may orbit relative to a fixed other end of the sealing means.

A fourth seal couples to the stator and includes fourth grooves extending in the direction substantially parallel to the rotational axis. The first grooves and the second grooves, as well as the third grooves and the fourth grooves, from labyrinth seals for the chambers of the rotary device.

A scroll compressor includes fixed and movable scrolls having a fixed and movable side plates and fixed and movable side laps to form first and second compression chambers. The fixed-side plate includes a discharge port and a relief hole extending from the front face through to the back face. The relief hole communicates for a predetermined amount of time with each of the first and second compression chambers and is shared by the first and second compression chambers. The front face of the movable-side plate includes a recessed part allowing the second compression chamber and the discharge port to communicate. The second compression chamber, during a latter stage of compression, and the discharge port communicating via a gap formed between a tip of the fixed-side lap and the recessed part before communicating via a side face gap formed between the fixed-side lap and the movable-side lap.

Compressor data module

A compressor is provided and includes a shell, a compression mechanism, a motor, a data module, and a compressor controller. The data module includes a data module processor and a data module memory. The compressor controller includes a controller processor and a controller memory distinct from the data module processor and the data module memory. The data module receives sensed data, stores the sensed data in the data module memory, determines a first diagnosis of the compressor based on the sensed data, and communicates the sensed data and the first diagnosis to the compressor controller. The compressor controller determines a second diagnosis of the compressor based on the sensed data and verifies the first diagnosis by comparing the first diagnosis to the second diagnosis.

A scroll pump has a tip seal between an axial end of the scroll blade of one of stationary and orbiting plate scrolls of the pump and the plate of the other of the stationary plate and orbiting plate scrolls. The scroll pump may have a ballast gas supply system and use the operation of the ballast gas supply system to assess the condition of the tip seal. Alternatively, the scroll pump may have two pressure sensors that sense pressure at two locations spaced along a compression mechanism of the pump to assess the condition of the tip seal.

COMPRESSOR HAVING CAPACITY MODULATION SYSTEM

A compressor may include first and second scrolls, a seal assembly and a valve ring. The first scroll may include a first end plate having a discharge passage, a modulation port, and a biasing passage. The modulation port may be in communication with a first pocket formed between spiral wraps of the first and second scrolls. The biasing passage may be in communication with a second pocket formed between spiral wraps of the first and second scrolls. The modulation valve ring is axially displaceable relative to the seal assembly and the first scroll between first and second positions. The valve ring may abut an end plate of the first scroll and close the modulation port when in the first position. The valve ring may abut an axially-facing surface of the seal assembly and is spaced apart from the end plate to open the modulation port when in the second position.
