Automotive variable mechanical lubricant pump
A variable mechanical lubricant pump provides a pressurized lubricant for an internal combustion engine. The lubricant pump includes a delivery port which is fluidically connected to the engine, a control ring which shifts between a maximum and a minimum eccentricity position, a pump rotor having slidable vanes which rotate in the control ring, a control ring preload spring which pushes the control ring into the maximum eccentricity position, a hydraulic control chamber which pushes the control ring into the minimum eccentricity position, a pressure galley pump port fluidically connected to the engine, and an overpressure valve fluidically associated with the delivery port. The pressure gallery pump port charges the hydraulic control chamber with a gallery pressure to control a remote gallery pressure of the engine via a control chamber pressure in the hydraulic control chamber. The overpressure valve opens if an applied lubricant pressure exceeds a predefined maximum pressure limit.
SCROLL COMPRESSOR
A scroll compressor includes a casing, a low-pressure space and a compression mechanism. The compression mechanism includes fixed and movable scrolls, a fluid chamber including first and second compression chambers, and an adjustment mechanism. The fluid chamber has different discharge start points between the first and second compression chambers. An oil inflow groove is formed in one sliding surface, and an oil relief passage is formed in the other sliding surface. The oil relief passage includes a communication portion that communicates with the oil inflow groove in a predetermined angular range, lubricating oil flowing from the oil inflow groove into the low-pressure space through the communication portion. The predetermined angular range is from a position between a discharge start point of the first compression chamber and a discharge start point of the second compression chamber to a position after the discharge start of the second compression chamber.
Lubrication strategy for dry run pump system
A gerotor pump assembly, and a system and method for operating a gerotor pump assembly, result in a lubrication strategy for operating in a loss-of-prime mode. An inner drive gear may be rotated in a first direction and in a second opposite direction about an axis of rotation. The inner drive gear has a number of projections extending outwardly therefrom. An outer driven gear surrounds the inner drive gear and defines a number of recessions along an inner surface configured to engage with the projections of the inner drive gear. The outer driven gear and the inner drive gear further define at least one dynamically-changing fluid cavity therebetween. The inner drive gear and the outer driven gear define an oil transfer volume clearance between a projection and a recession in a fully engaged position. Oil is maintained within the oil transfer volume clearance as the inner drive gear is rotated.
Lubricant injection for a screw compressor
A screw compressor, refrigerant circuit, lubrication method are disclosed. The screw compressor includes a suction inlet that receives a working fluid to be compressed. A compression mechanism is fluidly connected to the suction inlet. A discharge outlet is fluidly connected to the compression mechanism that outputs the working fluid following compression by the compression mechanism. The screw compressor includes a slide valve that is movable between a first position and a second position. The first position corresponds to a high volume ratio and the second position corresponds to a low volume ratio. The slide valve includes a plurality of lubricant passageways selectively connectable to a lubricant source. A first of the plurality of lubricant passageways is configured to be selected to provide lubricant at the high volume ratio, and a second of the plurality of lubricant passageways is configured to be selected to provide lubricant at the low volume ratio.
LUBRICANT MANAGEMENT IN AN HVACR SYSTEM
A heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) system is disclosed. The HVACR system includes a compressor, a condenser, and an evaporator fluidly connected to form a refrigerant circuit. A lubricant return line is fluidly connected to the compressor and to the evaporator. A pressure difference between the compressor and the evaporator induces a fluid flow of lubricant from the evaporator to the compressor.
VANE PUMP WITH IMPROVED SEAL ASSEMBLY FOR CONTROL CHAMBER
A vane pump comprises a housing and a control slide. A rotor rotates to draw lubricant into a rotor receiving space of the slide via a housing inlet and discharges the lubricant via an outlet. The control slide moves to change its eccentricity relative to the rotor for increasing and decreasing a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet. The control slide is biased in a displacement increasing direction. The control slide has one or more seals defining a control chamber with housing. The one or more seals includes a seal assembly received in a recess on a control slide outer surface. The seal assembly has a base element in the recess and a bearing element pivotally attached to the base element and bearing against an inner surface of the housing for sealing. The pivotal attachment includes male and female pivotal connectors coupled together.
