METHOD FOR INDUCING HIBERNATION-LIKE STATE AND DEVICE SAME
A method for inducing a hibernation-like state and a device for the same is described. The method is a chemical and physical method for reducing, in a subject, a theoretical set-point temperature of a body temperature and/or a feedback gain of heat production, or for inducing a hibernation-like state in the subject, the method including applying an excitatory stimulus to pyroglutamylated RFamide peptide (QRFP)-producing neurons. A device used to implement the method is also described.
CAPTURING TRUNCATED PROTEOFORMS IN EXHALED BREATH FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF DISEASES
Methods and devices to capture and analyze aerosolized particles such as protein biomarkers and their truncated proteoforms characteristic of a disease, including a respiratory disease, in exhaled breath to enable rapid detection of diseases are disclosed. The disclosed methods and systems selectively capture aerosolized particles using a packed bed column. The captured particles are then eluted using one or more solvents and analyzed using devices including mass spectrometry.
IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO GAS MONITORING
Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for determining a parameter of a gas present in an exhaled gas flow comprising: providing an apparatus gas flow with a time-varying parameter to a patient, measuring a parameter of the gas present in a composite gas outflow from the patient, and determining the parameter of the gas present in the exhaled gas flow using the measured parameter of the gas present in the composite gas outflow and the time-varying parameter.
BAG AND VALVE FOR ADVANCED RESPIRATORY SUPPORT
A respiratory device provides respiratory support to a patient. The respiratory device includes an expandable bag and a rigid valve housing. The expandable bag has an air inlet valve as well as a first and second sides that are bounded, respectively, by first and second rigid side panels. Each of the first and second rigid side panels includes a biasing member projection. The rigid valve housing is in fluid communication with the expandable bag. The rigid valve housing includes an adjustable tidal volume control device that interfaces with the biasing member projection of each of the first and second rigid side panels to set one of a plurality of predetermined tidal volumes for the expandable bag in an uncompressed or compressed configuration. The rigid valve housing additionally includes a patient breathing interface connection member.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING MOUTH LEAK
The present disclosure relates to a method for determining a mouth leak status associated with a user of a respiratory device is disclosed. Airflow data associated with the user of the respiratory device is received. The respiratory device is configured to supply pressurized air to an airway of the user during a therapy session. The airflow data includes pressure data. The airflow data associated with the user is analyzed. Based at least in part on the analysis, the mouth leak status associated with the user is determined. The mouth leak status is indicative of whether or not air is leaking from a mouth of the user.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING ONSET AND DISEASE PROGRESSION
The invention disclosed herein concerns screening and early detection of a variety of disease conditions in seemingly healthy subjects, enabling early intervention and treatment.
USER INTERFACE WITH INTEGRATED SENSORS
A user interface of a respiratory therapy system includes a strap assembly, a frame, a connector, and a sensor. The strap assembly is positioned about a head of a user when the user wears the user interface. The frame is physically and electrically connected to the strap assembly, and defines an aperture. The connector has a first end portion and second end portion. The first end portion of the connector can be positioned within the aperture of the frame such that the connector is physically and electrically connected to the frame. The sensor is coupled to the strap assembly or the frame such that the sensor abuts a target area of the user when the user wears the user interface.
Individual Biocontainment Unit to Reduce Infectious or Communicable Disease Transmission to Healthcare Workers, Bystanders, and Patients
A biocontainment assembly for use with a patient suspected of having or diagnosed with a transmissible disease(s) capable of respiratory, airborne, contact, or droplet transmission includes a housing configured to be positioned over and at least partially enclose a head, neck, and/or torso of the patient. A sidewall of the housing includes an open portion contiguous with an at least partially pen bottom portion of the housing, sized to fit over at least a portion of the head, neck, and/or a torso of the patient. The housing also includes an airflow opening for evacuating fluid from an interior defined by the housing. The assembly also includes a drape configured to extend across the open portion of the sidewall having a first portion removably connected to the housing and an opposing second portion configured to be draped over the torso, abdomen, waist, and/or legs of the patient.
INTRAORAL AEROSOL DELIVERY DEVICE
An electrically-powered inhalation device for delivery of an aerosol to the oropharynx of a user comprises respective proximal and distal portions, the proximal portion including an inlet for a liquid, the distal portion including an aerosol outlet defining a mist-exiting location and a piezo assembly including an ultrasonically vibrable mesh membrane, for producing, upon electrical activation, a mist comprising droplets of the liquid, the mesh membrane defining a mist-generating location; and an intermediate portion disposed distally from the proximal portion and proximally from the distal portion, wherein the distal portion is dimensioned to vertically span the user's oral cavity from tongue to hard-palate when the user's lips and/or teeth are transversely engaged with the intermediate portion, so as to place the mist-exiting location in fluid communication with the user's oropharynx.
Relocation module and methods for surgical equipment
Module for housing electronic and electromechanical medical equipment including a portable digital camera and processing circuitry with machine vision and machine learning software for automatically documenting healthcare events and healthcare equipment operations in the electronic health record.
