An impeller for use in a pump assembly for a fluid circuit of an engine of a vehicle comprises a plurality of projections provided at radially spaced locations relative to a rotational axis of the impeller, the impeller being rotatable relative to a housing of the pump assembly. The projections extend axially from a surface of the impeller and circumferentially about the rotational axis of the impeller. At least one of the projections is configured to be at least partially received in a recess provided in the housing such that a flow path is provided by the projection and the respective recess, wherein the flow path provides a tortuous flow route for fluid between an inlet and outlet of the pump assembly so as to restrict flow of fluid along said flow path and thereby minimise flow of fluid from the outlet back towards the inlet in a direction opposite to the intended direction of flow.

Embodiments of methods for manufacturing fluid pumps, pump cases, valve bodies, and volutes are also disclosed herein. Embodiments can include additive manufacturing, for example. Certain embodiments can include additively manufacturing a pump case in a tilted orientation, utilizing only coincidental support structure having a unique shape, and with teardrop shaped volute and/or valve body.

Temperature responsive variable water pump and engine cooling system

A water pump of an engine cooling system includes a thermal valve that divides an outlet space of a pump housing of an outlet port, through which the engine coolant pumped into the internal space of a pump housing is discharged, into a front end discharge region and a rear end discharge region. The thermal valve also forms a dual flow path through which the engine coolant is discharged to the front end discharge region and the rear end discharge region according to the increase of the coolant temperature. The cooling of a cylinder block and a cylinder head of an engine are thus separately adjusted.

Temperature responsive variable water pump and engine cooling system

A water pump of an engine cooling system includes a thermal valve that divides an outlet space of a pump housing of an outlet port, through which the engine coolant pumped into the internal space of a pump housing is discharged, into a front end discharge region and a rear end discharge region. The thermal valve also forms a dual flow path through which the engine coolant is discharged to the front end discharge region and the rear end discharge region according to the increase of the coolant temperature. The cooling of a cylinder block and a cylinder head of an engine are thus separately adjusted.

FUEL BOOST PUMP ASSEMBLY FOR AN AIRCRAFT

A fuel boost pump assembly for an aircraft includes a first inlet for receiving a first pressurized fuel flow, a second inlet, an assembly outlet, a pump for transferring fuel between the second inlet and the assembly outlet, and a hydraulic motor adapted to drive the pump. The hydraulic motor is fluidly connected between the first inlet and the assembly outlet, and is mechanically coupled to the pump. Further, in use, the hydraulic motor converts hydraulic energy of the first pressurized fuel flow into driving energy of the pump such that the pump generates a second pressurized fuel flow between the second inlet and the assembly outlet.

Motorized pump

An electrical submersible pump (ESP) and method for pumping fluid from a wellbore. The ESP has a motorized pump with an external rotor motor topology. The motorized pump fits into casing in the wellbore. The motorized pump includes a motor having a motor stator and a motor rotor. The motor stator is at a radial center of the motorized pump. The motorized pump has a centrifugal pump radially surrounding the motor stator. The centrifugal pump includes an impeller and a diffuser.
