Methods and apparatus for controlling fan devices

Various embodiments are directed to use of RF and WiFi control in a fan device to control fan status and speed and/or fan light on/off status and intensity. A customer premises includes a WiFi router through which WiFi communications can be sent from a WiFi capable device, e.g., a cell phone, to control the fan device and its various functions. While WiFi control is via a WiFi router in the home, the control signals normally do not traverse the Internet or another external network. In addition to WiFi control, control of the fan device can be via an RF control device, e.g., a wall mounted controller. In some embodiments, the fan device reports its state and/or changes in state due to received commands to a server, and the server generates a recommended normal control schedule and an away control schedule and then uses the schedules to control fan device.

Controller of fan coupling device

A controller includes: a control unit configured to calculate a control command value of an opening degree of a solenoid valve to control an opening degree of the solenoid valve; and an acquisition unit configured to acquire an estimated amount and a target amount of a working fluid in a labyrinth chamber, and a rotation speed of a drive shaft. The control unit calculates a final control command value based on a feedback control command value and a feedforward control command value, and controls the solenoid valve, the feedback control command value being calculated based on deviation between the estimated amount and the target amount, the feedforward control command value being used to maintain a rotation speed of a fan constant based on the estimated amount and the rotation speed of the drive shaft.

Fan logic evaluation device and method thereof for improving the logic evaluation of a fan

A fan logic evaluation device and method thereof for improving the logic evaluation of a fan. Specifically, a fan logic evaluation device is provided by first installing a fan, which corresponds to a set of parameters, in a wind tunnel device. A computer then performs a logic evaluation to convert the set of parameters into an evaluated pressure-flow curve and a measured pressure-flow curve by measuring the fan's operating conditions with the wind tunnel device. The computer further performs a logic modification to correct the logic evaluation to obtain a logic evaluation modification. The logic evaluation is then replaced by the logic evaluation modification. Finally, the above process is repeated with the same fan or a different fan.

MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEM PROVIDING SINGLE OUTPUT SIGNAL AND HIGH NUMBER OF SPEED SETTINGS

A motor control system providing at least seventeen speed settings using industry standard control signals and an industry standard five pin speed connector. One speed monitoring pin transmits an output signal for monitoring the speed of the motor, and four speed setting pins receive input signals for setting the speed. One of the speed setting pins receives and decodes two binary states and two frequency states, thereby providing a total of thirty-two speed settings. A non-regulated isolated winding is added to an internal transformer to provide an internal isolated flyback power supply for the motor, thereby liberating a pin on the industry standard five pin speed connector to provide the fourth speed setting input pin. Transmission circuitry is associated with the speed monitoring pin, and the non-regulated isolated winding is used to provide a direct current bias to the transmission circuitry.

Diagnostic system for a vehicle

A diagnostic system includes a fan control circuit coupled to an electric fan and a microcontroller, and a sense line coupled to the fan control circuit and the microcontroller. The fan control circuit outputs a fan command sense signal at a duty cycle through the sense line to the microcontroller. A tachometer generates a tachometer signal at a frequency indicative of the rotational speed of the electric fan. A fan tachometer circuit receives the tachometer signal and outputs the tachometer sense signal at a frequency to the microcontroller in response to the tachometer signal. The microcontroller sets a second diagnostic flag to an error value indicating that the sense line has impaired operation if the frequency of the tachometer sense signal is within a desired frequency range, and a first diagnostic flag is equal to a first error value.
