Systems and methods for spasticity treatment using spinal nerve magnetic stimulation
Described are methods, devices, and systems for a novel, easy to use treatment for spasticity that does not involve medication. Methods and devices herein use low-frequency repetitive magnetic fields to enhance communication in the spinal nerve, thereby allowing improved relaxation, control, and coordination in a muscle.
Avoidance of peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) using induced analgesia
Techniques are disclosed related to increasing prior limits imposed on MR gradient switching speed (dB/dt) without causing significant discomfort or severe pain perception to patients. The technique disclosed herein do so by modifying the pulsing gradient fields that are ordinarily available for MR imaging protocols. Doing so stimulates the peripheral nerves and thus enables a quick, reversible, and complete inhibition of action potential propagation through the stimulated region of tissue, referred to as a nerve conduction block.
Systems, devices and methods for caloric vestibular stimulation having an impedance monitor and/or temperature sensor
An in-ear stimulation device for administering caloric stimulation to the ear canal of a subject includes (a) first and second earpieces configured to be insertable into the ear canals of the subject; (b) at least first and second thermoelectric devices thermally coupled to respective ones of the first and second earpieces; (c) a first heat sink thermally coupled to the first thermoelectric device opposite the first earpiece and a second heat sink thermally coupled to the second thermoelectric device opposite the second earpiece; and (d) a controller comprising a waveform generator in communication with the first and second thermoelectric devices, the waveform generator configured to generate a first control signal to control a first caloric output to the first thermoelectric device and a second control signal to control a second caloric output to the second caloric device.
OBJECTIVE EVALUATION OF NEUROLOGICAL MOVEMENT DISORDERS FROM MEDICAL IMAGING
Systems and methods are provided for evaluating a patient for a neurological movement disorder. A three-dimensional medical image of a brain of the patient is captured and provided to an artificial neural network having at least one convolutional layer to provide a set of output values. The set of output values is provided to a machine learning model to provide a clinical parameter representing one of a presence of the neurological movement disorder in the patient and a response of the patient to a specific treatment for the neurological movement disorder.
