Systems and methods for restoring muscle function to the lumbar spine
A system for restoring muscle function to the lumbar spine to treat low back pain is provided. The system may include electrodes coupled to an implantable pulse generator (IPG), a handheld activator configured to transfer a stimulation command to the IPG, and an external programmer configured to transfer programming data to the IPG. The stimulation command directs the programmable controller to stimulate the tissue in accordance with the programming data. The system may include a software-based programming system run on a computer such that the treating physician may program and adjust stimulation parameters.
PRIMING-ASSISTED NEUROMODULATION THERAPY
A neuromodulation device generates a therapeutic neuromodulation field to produce a therapeutic effect in therapy-targeted neural tissue, and a priming field to produce a priming effect in priming-targeted neural tissue. The priming effect causes a change in sensitization of the priming-targeted neural tissue to the therapeutic neuromodulation field. The priming field is generated concurrently during generation of the therapeutic neuromodulation field to increase efficacy of the therapeutic effect.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND DEVICES FOR POST-BIRTH RECOVERY
A pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) device includes at least one electromagnetic (EM) field emitter. During post-birth recovery, a patient applies the EM field emitter to herself. The PEMF device performs a recovery cycle. In the recovery cycle, the EM field emitter emits EM fields having frequency combinations with a response frequency and a target frequency for a frequency combination period.
MAGNETIC STIMULATION DEVICE
The purpose of the present invention is to enable the convenient supply of optimal therapeutic conditions on a per disorder and patient basis by making a coil driving power supply (1) identify the type of coil (2-1, 2-2) connected thereto and apply a specific current waveform pattern to the coil (2-1, 2-2). The transcranial magnetic stimulation system according to the present invention has one or more current waveform pattern for inducing a magnetic field in the coil, and a detection means for determining the type of the coil (2-1, 2-2) and/or a coil that is connected to the power supply (1), and determines the magnetic field inducing current waveform pattern according to the coil type determined.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR NON-INVASIVE VAGAL NERVE STIMULATION
Systems and methods are provided for modulating one or more nerves within patients. A method comprises generating a signal comprising an electrical impulse and contacting an interface with an outer skin surface of a patient. The electrical impulse is delivered from one or more electrode(s) through the interface and the outer skin surface of the patient to a vagus nerve, thereby modulating the vagus nerve sufficiently to treat a medical condition. The one or more electrode(s) are spaced from the interface by a distance of about 0.25 to about 4 times an outer dimension of the interface.
METHODS FOR DETECTING AND TREATING PAIN USING BRAIN ACTIVITY
Disclosed are methods for detecting pain in a subject, such as a mammal (e.g., a human), using brain activity, e.g., as determined by electroencephalography. The methods are useful for treating or reducing the likelihood of pain in a subject by determining power amplitude from the power spectral density of the waveforms and, e.g., administering a therapeutic agent to the subject. The methods disclosed herein may also be utilized to screen for a therapeutic agent that decreases power amplitude using a non-human animal subject. The methods also feature the stimulation of thalamic reticular nucleus of a subject to treat or reduce pain.
Central base coils for deep transcranial magnetic stimulation
A transcranial magnetic stimulation coil which is location-specific for medial brain regions or lateral brain regions is designed with multiple spaced apart stimulating elements having current flow in a first direction, and multiple return elements having current flow in a second direction which is opposite the first direction. The multiple stimulating elements are distributed around a central axis of the coil.
IMPLANTABLE TEMPORARY NERVE CONDUCTION BLOCKING METHOD AND SYSTEM
Systems and methods of reducing pain after surgery in the thoracic or abdominal region and managing chronic nerve pain in the thoracic or abdominal region are provided. Such methods involve an electrode assembly that has a proximal portion and a distal portion with the distal portion including a plurality of electrodes. At least one electrode of the plurality of electrodes is placed over each of a plurality of intercostal nerve bundles in the patient's body. The proximal portion of the electrode assembly is connected to a pulse generator. An electromagnetic field is applied to the plurality of intercostal nerve bundles. The plurality of electrodes is removed from the patient's body after an intercostal nerve block sufficient to alleviate the patient's pain has been achieved.
High power time varying magnetic field therapy
In systems and methods for stimulation and treatment, a biological structure is stimulated by a high power time-varying magnetic field, and may also be stimulated with radiofrequency energy. The magnetic field stimulation is followed by at least a partial muscle contraction.
Device for treatment of depression, anxiety and pain
A device (100) for the treatment of depression, anxiety and pain, the device comprising: a plurality of adjacent dots (11) or other shapes, each comprising means for providing a signal being sensible by a touch sense, the signal comprising mechanical signal and/or electrical signal and/or temperature signal and/or magnetic signal; and a controller (32) for executing each of the means independently, for providing pre-programmed shapes (30, 40, 40A, 40B, 42, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54) being sensible by the touch sense, thereby allowing treating the depression, anxiety and pain by generating to the brain, signals resembling the pre-programmed shapes (30, 40, 40A, 40B, 42, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54) through the signals being sensible by the touch sense.
