METHODS, DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS FOR NON-INVASIVE DELIVERY OF MICROWAVE THERAPY

Methods, apparatuses and systems are provided for non-invasive delivery of microwave therapy. Microwave energy may be applied to epidermal, dermal and subdermal tissue of a patient to achieve various therapeutic and/or aesthetic results. In one embodiment, the microwave energy is applied to a target tissue via an energy delivery applicator connected to an energy generator. The energy delivery applicator may comprise one or more antennas, including monopole, dipole, slot and/or waveguide antennas (among others) that are used to direct the microwave energy to the target tissue. The energy delivery applicator may also comprise a cooling element for avoiding thermal destruction to non-target tissue and/or a suction device to localize thermal treatment at specific portions of a skin fold.

Method for the treatment of mammalian skin tissues via pulse irradiation in the presence of a photoactive compound

A method of treating mammalian skin tissues for causing a predetermined physiological change in the mammalian skin tissues. A treatment composition of matter is applied onto the mammalian skin. The mammalian skin is irradiated with a first pulse having a power density above an activation threshold power density and with a second pulse. The first pulse is emitted for a duration of from about 1 femtosecond to about 1 hour, and the first pulse is separated from the second pulse by an inter-pulse interval of from about 1 microsecond to about 10 seconds. The treatment composition of matter includes a photoreactive substance and is applied in an amount sufficient to cause physiological changes within the mammalian skin tissue upon the mammalian skin tissue being irradiated.

An unattended approach can increase the reproducibility and safety of the treatment as the chance of over/under treating of a certain area is significantly decreased. On the other hand, unattended treatment of uneven or rugged areas can be challenging in terms of maintaining proper distance or contact with the treated tissue, mostly on areas which tend to differ from patient to patient (e.g. facial area). Delivering energy via a system of active elements embedded in a flexible pad adhesively attached to the skin offers a possible solution. The unattended approach may include delivering of multiple energies to enhance a visual appearance.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF UNATTENDED TREATMENT OF A SUBJECT'S HEAD OR NECK

In accordance with various aspects of the present teachings, systems and methods for applying treatment energy, e.g., electromagnetic radiation such as laser radiation in the visible and near infrared wavelengths, to body areas having bulges and fat deposits, loose skin, pain, acne and/or wounds. In some aspects, the systems and methods can enable relatively lengthy treatments to be performed by having the practitioner set-up and/or start the treatment, thereafter allowing the treatment to proceed safely and effectively without the continued presence of the practitioner.

Non-Invasive Convergent Heating Treatment

The invention relates to medical therapy of detrimental lesions. A system treats with non-invasive arrays of non-ionizing energy-radiation sources. The external sources focus energy dose distribution to a selected volume in a body. Energy output is directed towards a pathologic location and quenched around other sites or healthy tissue. Beam aiming is done without source movement. Targeted, volumetrically discrete energy deposition can beneficially manipulate lesions within the body. The purpose of the focused and enhanced energy deposition is to repair or disable pathologic physiology or structures, nerve pathways, extracellular fluid, and misfolded proteins. Locally augmented energy is used to enhance immunity, release pharmaceutical compounds from energy-sensitive vesicles and reconfigure or eliminate misfolded proteins and their aggregates. Targeted tissue may have enhanced sensitivity to received energy via a non-ionizing-radiation, treatment-localizing agent. This system optimizes delivery of non-ionizing, non-ablating electromagnetic or mechanical energy, degrading or repairing an abnormality upon interaction with it.

LIGHT BASED THERAPY DEVICES AND METHODS

The present invention relates to a light therapy apparatus, system, and method for providing light delivered to a body organ, e.g., skin such as a scalp, via one or more light guides in therapeutic dosages from one or more light sources operating in a variety of wavelengths. The light source may comprise one or more LEDs coupled to an illumination assembly, wherein an array of illumination assemblies may be coupled to a dome configured for conformal placement near or on a body organ. The plurality of illumination assemblies may be actuated upon by one or more actuators that form an active system to cause conformal contact with the body organ utilizing one or more actuator types. A control system may be operably connected to the plurality of illumination assemblies to control one or more parameters, such as localized light position and intensity, and activation of the actuators.
