CONFORMAL WEARABLE PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA SYSTEM AND METHOD
An apparatus comprises a flexible substrate, a phased array antenna system disposed on the substrate, and a wearable applicator. The flexible substrate is configured to conform to a shape corresponding to a portion of a human body. The phased array antenna system comprises a plurality of antenna elements configured to resonate in response to an input signal and to generate a collective output electromagnetic pattern to propagate wirelessly to a target region in a human body. The wearable applicator is configured to align the collective output electromagnetic pattern with the target region.
Process utilizing pulsed energy to heat treat biological tissue
A process for heat treating biological tissue includes repeatedly applying a pulsed energy to a target tissue over a period of time so as to controllably raise a temperature of the target tissue to create a therapeutic effect to the target tissue without destroying or permanently damaging the target tissue. After the first treatment is concluded the application of the pulsed energy to the target tissue is halted for an interval of time. Within a single treatment session a second treatment is performed on the target tissue after the interval of time by repeatedly reapplying the pulsed energy to the target tissue so as to controllably raise the temperature of the target tissue to therapeutically treat the target tissue without destroying or permanently damaging the target tissue.
Heating/sensing catheter apparatus for minimally invasive applications
Catheter apparatus comprises a coaxial cable having proximal and distal ends. The cable includes a hollow center conductor, an outer conductor and an electrically insulating layer between the conductors. An antenna is at the distal end of the cable, and a diplexer is connected to the cable, the diplexer including a transmit path for connecting the antenna to a transmitter which transmits first frequency signals and a receive path for connecting the antenna to a receiver which detects second frequency signals the diplexer isolating the signals on the two paths from one another. A transmission line connects the cable to the diplexer, the transmission line having a segment with a tubular inner conductor one end of which is connected to the center conductor and a second end of which is adapted for connection to a coolant source, the center and inner conductors forming a continuous coolant pathway.
Systems and methods for microwave jamming of molecular recognition
Systems and methods include directing limited frequencies of microwave signals toward target molecules, driving a motion of the target molecules to impact molecular recognition. In one implementation, a microwave spectra associated with the rotational modes of a target molecule is obtained. From peaks in the spectra, a mode of molecular movement is identified and a microwave signal profile is generated for driving a motion of binding portions of the molecule associated with the identified mode. Microwave signals are generated based on the signal profile for output by antennas. For example, the microwave signals can be can be used to impede the binding of quorum sensing molecules by receptors of P. aeruginosa. In one implementation, the antennas can be placed in a catheter for placement in a patient. In another implementation, the antennas can be placed in a sleeve or other device for use adjacent to the skin of a patient.
Method and device for treating caries using locally delivered microwave energy
A method and a device for treating dental caries using microwave energy applied directly to teeth at frequencies that are lethal to the bacteria in caries, without being destructive to tooth tissues. The method and a device will have a significant economic and health impact, leading to a reduction in traditional surgical interventions, as well by improving access to care for those with health disparities.
TERAHERTZ HEALTHY ROSARY STRUCTURE
A terahertz healthy rosary structure includes a rope, a plurality of serial-connected rosary bead configured on the rope, a first rosary bead configured on the rope, and a plurality of terahertz layers formed on the surfaces of the serial-connected rosary beads and first rosary bead, where the two sides of the first rosary bead are respectively connected with the serial-connected rosary beads. When a user hangs the rope on the neck, uses it for singing Buddha, or places it close to the body, the terahertz layers will then emit terahertz waves. After the human body absorbs the terahertz waves, it can achieve the effects of promoting blood circulation, enhancing metabolism, and regulating autonomic nerves.
VCG vector loop bifurcation
A system for determining T wave bifurcation that includes three or more ECG leads configured to receive an ECG signal and a first computing device including a processor coupled to a memory, the processor and the memory configured to perform operations including: generating at least two orthogonal ECG vectors based on the ECG signal of a patient, processing the at least two orthogonal ECG vectors to determine a loop trajectory of at least a portion of the ECG signal, identifying a trajectory bifurcation by comparing the loop trajectory to a control loop trajectory for a plurality of cardiac cycles, and determining an indicator of a cardiac event based on the trajectory bifurcation.
Process for providing protective therapy for biological tissues or fluids
A process that provides protective therapy for biological tissues or fluids includes applying a pulsed energy source to a target tissue or a target fluid having a chronic progressive disease or a risk of having a chronic progressive disease to therapeutically or prophylactically treat the target tissue or target fluid. The pulsed energy source has energy parameters selected so as to raise the target tissue or bodily target fluid temperature up to a predetermined temperature for a short period of time to achieve a therapeutic or prophylactic effect, while the average temperature rise of the target tissue or target fluid over a longer period of time is maintained at or below a predetermined level so as not to permanently damage the target tissue or target fluid.
LASER SYSTEM FOR MULTIPLE BEAM TISSUE THERAPY WITH TISSUE AND LASER FUNCTIONAL COOLING
The invention provides a laser system and method for administering multiple beams of laser energy in tissue treatment applications. The system administers the beams simultaneously in a distribution pattern of spatially separated overlapping and non-overlapping regions on a tissue. The simultaneous administration and distribution pattern permit the beams to propagate within a tissue without producing the light scattering effects that characterize the sequential application of multiple laser beams to a tissue. The laser system can comprise tissue cooling and laser cooling components.
Phased-Array MASER Detector for Synthetic Aperture Interferometric Imaging
A phased-array MASER detector for synthetic aperture interferometric three-dimensional imaging. The detector elements, for example 10.sup.2-10.sup.6 zero bias Schottky detector diodes with sufficient sensitivity to reliably detect various values of MASER radiation, are arranged in layers offset in three dimensions. The phased-array MASER detector is particularly useful for detecting characteristics in a biological object using low energy (2-10 Watts), coherent MASER radiation. MASER intensity data of an interferometric pattern is collected by the detector array, is deconvolved, and is used to generate three-dimensional energy activity maps for a given time slice or on a time-shifting basis.
