SUBTERRANEAN ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
A subterranean energy storage system configured to store and subsequently release potential energy. Storage of potential energy is achieved by the transfer of a pseudo fluid from a first storage tank to a second storage tank located above the first storage tank, and is subsequently released by the transfer of the pseudo fluid from the second storage tank to the first storage tank. To transfer the pseudo fluid between the first and second storage tanks, the subterranean energy storage system comprises at least one continuous conveyor mechanism extending through at least one transport shaft, wherein the at least one continuous conveyor mechanism comprises a plurality of vessels arranged along a length of the continuous conveyor mechanism. The subterranean energy storage system further comprises an energy transfer means operably connected to the at least one continuous conveyor mechanism to transfer power to and from the subterranean energy storage system.
WAVE ENERGY CONVERTER AND BUOY
A buoy, preferably for a wave energy converter system, comprises a central portion; and one or a plurality of buoyancy blocks connected, directly or indirectly, to the central portion. By providing the central portion with a bell mouth opening and attachment means for a wire or rope, a buoy with improved characteristics is provided.
System of power generation from rainfall on buildings and structures
The invention indicates ways to assemble turbines, pipes, and check valves as a set or series of sets to produce electricity from rainwater off of high rises, buildings, parking garages, and other structures.
Systems and methods for harnessing hydro-kinetic energy
Systems and methods for harnessing hydro-kinetic energy. The system includes a single central axle, a plurality of vanes, and a generator. The plurality of vanes may be configured to rotate about the central axle. Each vane may include a frame and a panel rotatably attached the frame. The panel may comprise a plurality of channels having a C-shaped cross-section. Movement of surrounding water may cause the panel to rotate relative to the frame between an open and closed position. The generator may be configured to convert the rotational motion of the plurality of vanes into electrical energy.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MOVING FLUID USING A NEW BLADE SHAPE
The present invention provides improved methods, apparatus, and manufacture for an Archimedes Screw using a new blade design to increase the volume of water raised or lowered by about 9%-18%. The invention, in part alters the shape of the blades within the screw from a helicoid shape to a new shape called a “makroid” by the inventor. A helicoid blade in an Archimedes Screw has been used since antiquity and has not changed since then, limiting the efficiency. The makroid shape allows a greater quantity of water to be contained within the screw.
ARTICULATED-WING POWER GENERATION
An energy generation system to generate energy from a fluid flow, the energy generation system including an extendable arm that extends into a fluid flow, a fin connected to one end of the extendable arm and causing, due to the fluid flow, the extendable arm to move from a first orientation within the fluid flow to a second orientation within the fluid flow, and a joint connected to a second end of the extendable arm that couples the extendable arm to an energy generator.
Method for Constructing a Pumped Storage Power Plant in a Ground Depression, in Particular in an Open-Cast Mine
The energy transition involves the electrical power supply being almost completely covered by renewable energy sources such as solar plants or wind turbines. However, due to their naturally fluctuating output, these energy sources require the use of large energy storage systems, the realization of which still represents a major problem today. The present invention provides a solution which aims to secure the entire short-term storage capacity needed for the energy transition in Germany (and even Europe). For this purpose, in particular, the invention proposes the construction of a large-scale pumped-storage power plant in the Hambach open-pit mine, as a result of which the can mine be put to subsequent use in a sustainable way. The invention also relates to the construction and partial commissioning of the plant in parallel with the use that is being phased out, in particular that of lignite mining (by 2038). This is to avoid the loss of a significant number of existing jobs. After construction, it is not uncommon for lifetimes of over 100 or even over 1,000 years to be possible, which means that a particular level of sustainability can be ensured.
Internal manifold for multipoint injection
A multipoint injection system includes a manifold with a plurality of flow passages defined through the manifold in the circumferential direction. The flow passages are spaced apart from one another in an axial direction. A plurality of feed arms extends radially inward from the manifold. Feed arm portions of the flow passages extend through each of the feed arms to respective outlets. The feed arm portions of the flow passages are within the axial width of the manifold. A plurality of injection nozzles are included, each in fluid communication with a respective one of the outlets. Each injection nozzle includes an air passage therethrough with an air inlet. The feed arms each follow a path that is circumferentially offset from the air inlets so each of the feed arms is clear from a flow path directly upstream in the axial direction of each of the air inlets.
Energy conversion device
An energy conversion apparatus 1 comprises: a liquid tank 11 in which a liquid 10 is stored; a plurality of gas-receiving parts 12 that are provided in the vertical direction inside the liquid tank 11 and are free to rotate or move vertically; a nozzle 13 that, inside the liquid tank 11, ejects compressed gas from below the lowest positioned gas-receiving part 12; a gas cylinder 14 that stores compressed gas serving as a primary energy source and feeds the compressed gas to the nozzle 13; an output means 3 that outputs kinetic energy of rotation or vertical movement as secondary energy to the exterior of the liquid tank 11, the kinetic energy being generated in the gas-receiving parts 12 by a buoyant force that the gas-receiving parts 12 generate as a result of receiving the compressed gas ejected from the nozzle 13; and a recovery device 4 that returns the gas from the liquid tank 11 to the gas cylinder 14.
Method and device for converting wave motion to usable energy
The present disclosure provides a method and a device for converting the alternating motion produced by at least one float (202, 222) resting atop surface of a water body into unidirectional motion and converting that motion into usable energy. The method and device may be provided on a structure/vessel (206) or as the interface between the vessel and the water body surface. The vessel incorporating the device as such experiences a reduced effect of vertical perturbations from waves generated on the water body.
