The energy transition involves the electrical power supply being almost completely covered by renewable energy sources such as solar plants or wind turbines. However, due to their naturally fluctuating output, these energy sources require the use of large energy storage systems, the realization of which still represents a major problem today. The present invention relates to supporting the construction of a large-scale pumped-storage power plant, e.g., in the Hambach open-pit mine, by enabling test operation as well as energy generation as early as during the construction phase.

Wildlife deterring windmill

Described herein are various systems and techniques for deterring wildlife from an area proximate a windmill. A flying wildlife emitter may be utilized for such techniques. The flying wildlife emitter may output soundwaves to deter wildlife, such as birds or bats, from entering an area around the windmill. The flying wildlife emitter may include a speaker for producing sounds as well as a controller and sensors for determining conditions around the windmill and for controlling the sound produced by the speaker. An ultraviolet emitter may, additionally or alternatively, be utilized for such techniques. The ultraviolet emitter may be configured to emit ultraviolet light that may attract wildlife away from such areas proximate to the windmill.

A TIDAL WAVE POWERED DEVICE AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING POTENTIAL ENERGY
20170241399 · 2017-08-24 ·

The invention relates to a tidal wave powered device and a method thereof for producing potential energy from the movement of tidal waves in a water mass, the device comprising a cylinder (18) anchored to the bed (22) of the water mass with a piston (16) located in the cylinder to define a pumping chamber (25) therein. A storage tank (23) is located at an elevated height for storage of water delivered from the cylinder pumping chamber (25). A docking unit (30) anchored to the bed of the water mass is connected to a floater (10) such that when the floater (10) attains an optimal height, the docking unit (30) is locked in to hold the floater (10) in an elevated position. The docking unit (30) is opened to release the floater (10) from the elevated position so that the weight of the floater pushes the piston (16) downwards to deliver water from the pumping chamber (25) of the cylinder (18) into the storage tank (23).
