TOWER SECTION PRODUCTION PROCESS
20170122292 · 2017-05-04 · ·

The application relates to wind turbine tower section production methods and in particular to methods of manufacturing a plurality of elongate tower segments for forming a wind turbine tower section, the tower section constructed from a plurality of elongate tower segments connected along their respective longitudinal edges. The tower section is formed from a plurality of cans connected end to end and is divided into elongate segments by cutting along two or more cut lines extending along the length of the tower. A method of providing a horizontal flange at the end of a wind turbine tower is also discussed, as is a vertical flange preassembly including a pair of vertical flanges for connecting the longitudinal edges of adjacent first and second tower segments.

Wind turbine blade comprising metal filaments and carbon fibres and a method of manufacturing thereof

Wind turbine blade has a longitudinal direction and includes a shell structure made of a fiber-reinforced polymer material including a polymer matrix and reinforcement material comprising a plurality of carbon fiber layers embedded in the polymer matrix. At least a portion of the shell structure is formed of a laminate 6 comprising at least one metal filament layer 15, 18 comprising metal filaments and being sandwiched between two carbon fiber layers 16, 16; 17, 18 comprising carbon fibers only. The carbon fiber layers are arranged contiguously with the metal filament layer.

COMPOSITE COMPONENT

A composite component comprises a plurality of plies and a plurality of pins extending in a direction transverse to the plies. The pins comprise a first region formed from a first material and a second region formed from a second material.

Leading edge protection for a wind turbine blade

A leading-edge protector element for protecting a leading-edge of a wind turbine blade is provided. The leading-edge protector element includes a film layer and a rubber layer, and is provided on a coiled-up roll. The leading-edge protector element has a thickness between a first edge, a second edge, a third edge, and a fourth edge. The thickness decreases along a transverse direction towards the third edge and towards the fourth edge. The leading-edge protector element for protecting a leading-edge of a wind turbine blade may alternatively only include a rubber layer and also be provided on a coiled-up roll.
