Instrument for therapeutically cytotoxically ablating parathyroidal tissue within a parathyroid gland
An instrument for therapeutically cytotoxically ablating parathyroidal tissue is disclosed. A substance is capable of transforming the parathyroid gland from overproduction of parathyroid hormone when the substance's quantity exceeds a set amount, and is capable of transforming the parathyroid gland from overproduction only when activated by application of sufficient units of an electromagnetic energy having a frequency ranging from 400 THz to 30 PHz when the substance's quantity is below the set amount. A delivery device is operable to introduce the substance into the parathyroidal tissue and to quantitatively limit the quantity to below the set amount. An energy device is operable to apply units of the electromagnetic energy after the substance has been introduced. A sensor is operable to monitor the activation of the substance as the electromagnetic energy is applied. The energy device is further operable to modulate applying the electromagnetic energy when the substance has been activated.
Selective laser stimulation of corneal stem cells
Apparatus (20) for ophthalmic treatment includes an optical unit (30), which includes a camera (54), which is configured to capture an image of an eye (25) of a patient, a laser (48), which is configured to emit pulses of laser radiation, and beam conditioning and scanning optics (49, 50), which are configured to focus and direct the laser radiation to impinge on an anterior surface of the eye. A controller (44) is configured to analyze the image so as to identify a limbus of the eye, and to control the optical unit so that the laser radiation impinges on a set of one or more locations on the anterior surface of the eye that are in a vicinity of the limbus with a pulse duration and an energy selected so as to stem cells at the one or more locations.
METHOD FOR TREATING PELVIC PAIN, CHRONIC PROSTATITIS, AND OR OVERACTIVE BLADDER SYMPTOMS
A method for treating pelvic pain and or chronic prostatitis, and or overactive bladder symptoms. Energy, preferably in the form of infrared or near infrared wavelength light may be applied across the vaginal tissue or rectal tissue to treat pelvic pain and or chronic prostatitis. This method of energy application may cause local heating, alteration of cellular respiration, and alterations of local blood flow resulting in decreased muscle spasm, and or decreased pain, and or decreased overactive bladder symptoms. The method of the present invention may effectively treat chronic pelvic pain and or the symptoms of chronic prostatitis. The method of the invention may combine massaging of tissue with irradiation of same.
BACTERICIDAL METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS
Methods of the present invention comprise photoinactivation of catalase in combination with low-concentration peroxide solutions and/or ROS generating agents to provide antibacterial effects.
TOILET EQUIPPED WITH INFRARED GENERATOR
The present invention relates to a toilet equipped with an infrared generator. The toilet equipped with an infrared generator is fabricated by separately forming a toilet body provided with an infrared generator in one side surface thereof, a bowl made of a material through which infrared rays emitted by the infrared generator can be transmitted and furnished with an infrared ray transmission region without the formation of a hole, and a rim conduit and then coupling the infrared generator, the bowl, and the rim conduit to the separately formed toilet body. The toilet equipped with an infrared generator enables the infrared generator to be easily installed without forming a hole into the bowl, and can prevent excretions, such as urine and feces, from leaking to the infrared generator.
Bactericidal methods and compositions
Methods of the present invention comprise photoinactivation of catalase in combination with low-concentration peroxide solutions and/or ROS generating agents to provide antibacterial effects.
LIGHT THERAPY AS AN ADJUVANT TO CAROTID ENDARTERECTOMY
A method for treating a subject is provided. The method includes performing surgery on the subject such as, for example, a carotid endarterectomy. Light therapy is administered to the subject as an adjuvant to the surgery.
