HEAVY FUEL ROTARY ENGINE WITH COMPRESSION IGNITION

A rotary engine that starts and operates on compression-ignition of a heavy fuel without a secondary ignition source. The rotary engine includes a rotor housing that forms an epitrochoidal-shaped chamber having linear side portions extending between rounded end portions. A three-flanked rotor is disposed in the chamber to rotate and operate in a manner similar to that of a common Wankel-style rotary engine. The rotor and chamber are configured to provide a compression ratio sufficient to produce compression-ignition of a heavy fuel. The rotor includes apex seal and side seal mounting blocks formed from hardened materials and that are simply removable from the rotor for replacing apex and side seals. The apex seals may include multiple non-parallel seal members at each apex and the apex seals and the side seals may overlap or intersect a corner seal to increase sealing under high compression loads produced by the rotor/chamber configuration.

Scroll compressor including a buffer member between a shaft and a recess part of an eccentric bush

A scroll compressor includes a shaft being rotated by a drive source, an eccentric bush including a recess part into which the shaft is inserted and an eccentric part being eccentric to the shaft, an orbiting scroll configured to perform an orbiting motion in interlock with the eccentric part, a fixed scroll tooth-engaged with the orbiting scroll, and a buffer member configured to prevent an outer periphery of the shaft and an inner periphery of the recess part from coming in contact with each other, wherein the buffer member is formed to be able to perform a relative motion with respect to the shaft and the recess part. Accordingly, the scrolls are prevented from being damaged, an impact sound is prevented from being generated, and an increase of an inertial force and an unbalance force of a rotating body is suppressed.

Additively manufactured rotors for superchargers and expanders

Rotors formed by an additive manufacturing process are presented. In one example, a method of making a rotor is presented including defining a printing order for the application of a first material, and creating a plurality of lobes arranged helically about a central opening or a shaft by adding a first material in the printing order, wherein each of the plurality of lobes defines an outer surface.

DRY VACUUM PUMP AND MANUFACTURING METHOD

A dry vacuum pump has a stator (2) and two rotors (5) that are accommodated in at least one compression chamber (3) of the stator (2), the rotors (5) being configured to rotate synchronously in opposite directions so as to drive a gas to be pumped between an intake and a delivery of the vacuum pump. The rotors (5) and the compression chamber (3) of the stator (2) are coated with a nickel-phosphorus coating (11) comprising between 9% and 14% phosphorus and having a thickness greater than 20 μm, the nickel-phosphorus coating (11) having undergone a hardening heat treatment comprising a step of heating to a treatment temperature greater than 250° C. for a treatment duration greater than one hour, so as to have a hardness greater than 700 HV.

Pump assembly with sealing protrusion on stator bore portion

A pump assembly may include a rotor having a rotor shaft portion; a stator having a bore portion defining a bore for receiving the rotor shaft portion; and a circumferential protrusion extending radially into the bore between the bore portion and the rotor shaft portion, wherein at least one of the protrusion and a corresponding surface of the rotor shaft portion or the bore portion is configured to be abraded by the other upon experiencing contact therewith. In this way, the gap between the bore portion and the rotor shaft portion may be at least partially filled by the circumferential protrusion in order to provide a seal. The protrusion and one of the bore portion and the rotor shaft portion may be formed from different hardness materials.

COMPRESSOR INCLUDING LASER-HARDENED BEARING SURFACES
20220099091 · 2022-03-31 ·

This disclosure is directed to compressors with hardened bearing surfaces, particularly laser-hardened bearing surfaces. Laser hardening can be used to precisely harden selected areas of the bearing surfaces of the compressor components. By hardening those selected areas, wear resistance can be improved and sliding wear can be reduced. This can result in thrust plates having different material structures configured to contact one another, such as one having a primarily pearlitic microstructure with the opposing thrust plate having a primarily martensitic microstructure. This can reduce adhesive wear by providing dissimilarity on the wearing surfaces.
