Drainage structure and turbocharger
A drainage structure includes: a main body including an intake flow path; a compressor impeller disposed in the intake flow path; an accommodation chamber formed in the main body at a position upstream of the compressor impeller in a flow of an intake air; a movable member disposed in the accommodation chamber; and a connecting passage connected to the accommodation chamber.
Fluidic valve configuration for boost spool engine
A gas turbine engine includes a first spool associated with a diffuser and a primary combustor and a second spool associated with a secondary combustor. The first spool includes a first compressor and a first turbine mounted to a first shaft, and the second spool includes a second compressor and a second turbine mounted to a second shaft. An inlet duct fluidly connects the diffuser to the second compressor. An outlet duct assembly fluidly connects the second turbine to the diffuser and the primary combustor.
Effect of the nozzle width to harness on engine pulse energy
A turbine comprises a turbine wheel for rotation within a turbine housing, the turbine housing including at least one volute arranged to deliver a fluid to the turbine wheel via the turbine nozzle. A method for determining a width of a turbine nozzle for the turbine, comprises selecting from a relationship between a turbine stage efficiency and an effective nozzle area, at least one target effective nozzle area. As used here, the effective nozzle area is dependent on both the width of the turbine nozzle and a whirl angle induced by the at least one volute. The method further comprises determining, in dependence on the whirl angle, the width of the turbine nozzle as a width that will achieve the at least one target effective nozzle area.
Turbocharged compressor
A turbocharged compressor system using an Organic Rankine Cycle system to recover waste heat from a compression process. The Organic Rankine Cycle system circulates an organic fluid through an evaporator, where the organic fluid vaporizes and is expanded in a turbine section of a turbocharger to drive a compressor section of the turbocharger. The organic fluid vapor is condensed in a condenser and is pumped to the evaporator once again for recirculation. The compressor section of the turbocharger pre-compresses a working fluid before entering an airend in a compression system. As the working fluid exits the airend, it may be delivered to the evaporator, where the waste heat from the working fluid evaporates the organic fluid flowing in the Organic Rankine Cycle system. The working fluid may also be circulated between intercoolers in multi-stage compressor systems.
TURBOMACHINE WITH ROLLER ELEMENT BEARING ARRANGEMENT
A bearing arrangement for a turbomachine includes first and second roller element bearings. The first bearing and the second bearing are disposed on opposite axial ends of an intermediate sleeve of the rotating group. The first bearing has a first inner race with a first inner radial surface and a first outer radial surface. The first inner radial surface has a first interference fit with a shaft of the rotating group. The first outer radial surface has a second interference fit with the intermediate sleeve. The second bearing has a second inner race with a second inner radial surface and a second outer radial surface. The second inner race receives the shaft with a clearance fit. The second outer radial surface has a third interference fit with the intermediate sleeve. The second inner race is coaxially aligned with the first inner race and the shaft via coaxial alignment of the intermediate sleeve and the first inner race.
INTEGRATED E-MACHINE CONTROLLER FOR TURBOMACHINE HAVING FASTENING ARRANGEMENT
A fluid compressor device includes a housing and a rotating group supported for rotation within the housing about an axis. The device also includes a controller for an e-machine of a turbomachine having a rotating group that is supported for rotation about an axis including a support structure, a first bus bar that is elongate and that extends about the axis, a second bus bar that is elongate and that extends about the axis, the second bus bar stacked on the first bus bar in an axial direction with respect to the axis, and a fastener arrangement that attaches the first bus bar and the second bus bar to the support structure.
COOLANT SYSTEM FOR INTEGRATED E-MACHINE CONTROLLER FOR TURBOMACHINE
A fluid compressor device includes a housing and a rotating group supported for rotation within the housing about an axis. The device also includes a compressor stage including a compressor wheel of the rotating group that is supported on a shaft of the rotating group. The device also includes an e-machine stage including an e-machine that is operably coupled to the shaft and that is configured to operate as at least one of a motor and a generator. Additionally, the device includes an integrated controller that extends at least partly over the e-machine stage in a circumferential direction about the axis. The integrated controller includes a coolant core that receives a flow of a coolant therethrough for cooling the integrated controller. The coolant core extends over the e-machine stage in a circumferential direction about the axis.
Multiple Scroll Entry Turbine Turbocharger
A turbocharger arrangement includes a turbine housing with multiple individual cylinder exhaust delivery scrolls, each having an individual inlet to the turbine, formed therein. The turbine housing has one individual cylinder exhaust delivery scroll for each cylinder of an engine to which the turbocharger arrangement is attached. Individual runner exhaust manifolds each connect one exhaust port of one cylinder of the engine to one of the individual cylinder exhaust delivery scrolls. The individual runner exhaust manifolds may be pipes of approximately equal length and/or equal gas flow characteristics. Separating the exhaust pulses from each cylinder with individually runner exhaust manifolds and turbine scrolls allows for enthalpy in the exhaust flow to be harnessed to a greater extent, and allows the system to be tuned for optimum energy recovery from engine cylinder blowdown.
Bearing assembly for supporting rotation of a shaft in a turbocharger
A bearing assembly for supporting rotation of a shaft in a turbocharger includes an inner race extending along an axis. The inner race is configured to be coupled to the shaft. The bearing assembly also includes an outer race spaced radially from the inner race and a cage disposed radially between the inner race and the outer race. The bearing assembly further includes a rolling element disposed radially between the outer race and the inner race. The rolling element is disposed within the cage for supporting rotation of the shaft. The outer race defines a lubricant passageway configured to direct lubricant toward the cage.
