PUMPED HEAT ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM WITH STEAM CYCLE

The present disclosure provides pumped heat energy storage systems that can be used to store and/or extract electrical energy. A pumped heat energy storage system of the present disclosure can store energy by operating as a heat pump, whereby net work input can be used to transfer heat from the cold side to the hot side. A working fluid of the system is capable of efficient heat exchange with heat storage fluids on a hot side of the system and on a cold side of the system. Such pumped energy storage systems can be beneficially integrated with steam plants to provided heating to the steam cycle.

Disclosed is an exhaust duct (1) for a gas turbine engine (50), comprising a silencer section (12). At least two plate-shaped silencer baffles (20) are provided inside the silencer section (12). At least one of the plate-shaped silencer baffles is configured as a heat exchange device in that it comprises at least one internal cavity (22) suitable for receiving a heat exchange fluid and leakproof with respect to the interior of the exhaust duct, wherein the at least one internal cavity is fluidly connected to the outside of the exhaust duct at an inlet port and an outlet port (23, 24). This device is useful for recuperating exhaust heat from exhaust gases of the gas turbine engine without the expense and additional space required for providing a heat recovery steam generator.

A method and system of wastewater evaporation uses a turbine-based wastewater evaporation system to convert wastewater to steam. The wastewater evaporation system includes a wastewater heating track disposed in the interior of the exhaust collector of the turbine in the flow path of turbine exhaust. The wastewater fluidly communicated therethrough is heated by the turbine exhaust and fluidly communicated to a plurality of atomization nozzles. The plurality of atomization nozzles direct atomized wastewater into the interior of the exhaust port of the turbine that is converted to steam in the presence of turbine exhaust within the exhaust port. The system may be disposed on a mobile trailer or skid to facilitate disposing the system on a job site and may be remotely controllable by a remote operator.

Tire system may include multiple compressors on separate pinion shafts with multiple expanders, a temperature valve upstream of compressors with a mass management system downstream, an intercooler between compressors, and a cascade exchanger. In one embodiment, the system is configured to drive a synchronous generator, with the separate pinion shafts rotating at two separate, but constant, speeds.

The power supply system is configured to receive second compressed air from the at least one storage tank, wherein the second compressed air comprises either the first compressed air or the liquid air which has been heated into a gaseous state; spin the turbine and the flywheel using the second compressed air, wherein the spinning of the turbine generates electrical energy at the generator; provide the electrical energy to a data center for powering electronic devices of the data center; and provide at least a portion of the second compressed air exhausted by the turbine to the data center for cooling the electronic devices of the data center.
